Russell Hantz Said 'Queen' Sandra Diaz-Twine Almost Quit 'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villians'

Two-time winner Sandra Diaz-Twine recently left "Survivor: Winners at War" rather than battle her way back from Edge of Extinction, and former player Russell Hantz, who played against Diaz-Twine in "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains," was quick to comment on the move, saying that the self-proclaimed "Queen" almost quit during that season as well.

Hantz said that prior to an immunity challenge, show host and executive producer Jeff Probst asked off-camera if anyone would quit the game for $50,000 and two movie tickets. Hantz said Diaz-Twine was the only player to raise their hand.

"I knew she was a quitter a long time ago. When you talk all that smack, when you stay stuff like, 'It's time to put up or shut up,' Sanda, when you say that kind of stuff, 'I'm the queen, queen stays queen,' and you quit, I have no respect for that, none," said Hantz on his YouTube channel.

As for Diaz-Twine, she has no regrets.

"I went to Edge of Extinction for not even like two hours, and I was like, 'I'm not staying here,'" she said. "I don't care if they say 'Sandra quit Edge of Extinction' because essentially that's what I did."

"I know my strengths, I know my weaknesses," she said. "I saw all those people out there on Edge of Extinction and I was like, 'I can't beat none of these jokers at nothing. I'm not sitting out here for 23 days to suffer.'"

Diaz-Twine eventually blocked Hantz for his tweets regarding her game play during this, the 40th season of "Survivor."

Hantz also voted Sandra Diaz-Twine the 10th worst player in "Survivor" history for her win on "Survivor: Pearl Islands," the show's seventh season.

"There are times where you have to quit," Hantz said, citing Jenna Morasca's departure from "Survivor: All-Stars" due to her mother's health.

But Diaz-Twine's situation was different, Hantz said.

"I've always gave Sandra respect for her two wins, she's a legend of the game," Hantz said on his YouTube channel. "I've always said that she belongs on the legends season if they have one. She tweets she doesn't regret the decision because she regrets the decision. She says she's retired. Good riddance. We lose too much to go out there to see somebody quit."

Diaz-Twine has been the only player in "Survivor: Winners at War" who has been sent to Edge of Extinction to raise the white flag and end their time in the game.

Players this season are looking at a $2 million prize.

In 2010, Diaz-Twine and Hantz - whose nephew, Brandon, played on "Survivor: South Pacific" and "Survivor: Caramoan" - were among the first five players to be inducted into the Survivor Hall of Fame, alongside Parvati Shallow, Boston Rob Mariano, and Richard Hatch.
