Mel B's Ex, Stephen Belafonte, Says This 'Single Handedly Ruined' Her Career

Shocking email Stephen Belafonte's to his ex Melanie Janine Brown, also known as Mel B, has come to light in connection with their ongoing custody battle.

The mail, which was submitted as evidence, saw the singer have a verbal fight over their daughter, Madison, as well as visitation rights. The pair are currently engrossed in a custody battle over the 11-year-old.

Mel B recently accused Belafonte of withholding their daughter's whereabouts on several occasions and claimed he failed to correctly carry out his co-parenting responsibilities. She also asked the court to impose that Belafonte seeks approval from her before allowing an outsider to chaperone their daughter.

According to reports by Radar Online, singer and former Spice Girl Mel B and estranged husband Belafonte's court battle has gone up a notch after a series of messages exchanged between the pair in May 2021 was submitted as evidence.

The exes are currently having a custody battle over their 11-year-old daughter Madison, and the explosive email was submitted to play a huge part in determining who wins the case.

In their ongoing litigation, Mel B accused Stephen of occasionally withholding information about their daughter's whereabouts. The singer's lawyer further emphasized her view, saying Belafonte has "largely left Melanie in the dark – failing to provide her with even basic information."

As part of the argument submitted by Mel B's lawyer, the singer wants the court to rule that the estranged couple must mutually approve of any chaperone for their daughter outside of immediate family members.

Mel B also accused Stephen of failing in his co-parenting responsibilities, alluding that her ex did "not timely provide addresses for where Madison resides while in his care."

Mel B cited an instance when Stephen allowed their daughter to stay with a woman named Bahare. She shared that her ex did this without seeking her own approval.

Per the publication, "Bahare is actually a close associate of Lorraine Gilles, whom both Stephen and the Court are aware is not permitted to be around Madison under any circumstance."

Prior to the former couple's tumultuous divorce, Lorraine worked for the pair and allegedly had several sexual trysts with them on different occasions in their home.

In response to Mel B's accusations, Stephen asserted that the singer was fully aware of Bahare being a caretaker, seemingly suggesting that her claims were false. He also disclosed that he always kept his ex informed of their daughter's life and whereabouts.

As part of the revelation in the mail, Belafonte dissed Mel B by saying she ruined her career amid a conversation about chaperoning their daughter.

Stephen said, "you've single-handedly ruined your career trying to look like a victim, and no one bought into it, and now you keep preaching it to me no matter how much you say it it's not gonna make that ever came [sic] true if I was so abusive and so hurtful you should be flourishing with your career in life now and not worrying about me just our daughter."

He added, "I wasn't trying to abuse you by offering someone who I trust around our daughter, and you trust it until you made up lies about the person. I was only interested in our daughter's safety, and I knew she would be someone who would never hurt our daughter."

Following the submission of the email as evidence, Mel B and Belafonte are slated to have their day in court at a later date. It is unclear when that will happen, but per Radar Online, the hearing will happen sometime this year.

Mel B and Belafonte were married for 10 years before they announced their decision to go their separate ways in 2017. The pair had a contentious divorce case after their split, which was finalized in December 2017.

As part of the reasons for their split, Mel B accused Belafonte of physical abuse during their marriage, estranging her from her family, and infidelity with Gilles, who allegedly got pregnant and aborted a child for him. The singer also claimed that he exploited her financially. Belafonte has since refuted Mel's claims.
