The hit movie "Mean Girls" is timeless. Even years after its release, the movie is setting the scene for a current Halloween TikTok trend. "In Girl World" quotes the Halloween party scene in the flick while showcasing what people are wearing for the spooky holiday. Many videos using the hashtag #ingirlworld have been taking people's FYP section by storm. The trend has more than 32 million views.
TikTokers Are Showing Off Their Halloween Costumes With The "In Girl World" Trend
"In girl world, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it. The hardcore girls just wear lingerie and some form of animal ears." The scene continues with Lindsey Lohan's character Cady explaining that no one told her that. "Unfortunately, no one told me about the slut rule," she said, and showed up to the party dressed in a scary costume.
The TikTok trend hasn't collectively taken a side, with some girls following the "slut rule" and others taking the non-sexy route. TikToker Anna Harvey took the not-so-sexy route with her adorable cow costume.
Samantha Hollingshead posted a video of her "scary" costume using the "Mean Girls" quote while riding a bike around her non-Halloween ready office. Her video, posted in 2020, was captioned, "Back to back office costume competition champion! #girlworld #meangirls #halloween." When asked in the comments why she's the only one dressed up, Hollingshead responded, "Most of my co workers donโt partake cause they are lame."
TikTok account, Esmebabyyy followed the movie's "slut rule" to choose their costumes captioning their video, "halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total s***"
Another TikToker who followed the movie's rule is @thatonesyncsong and even added the animal ears to her costume. Her caption reads, "it makes it so much more fun๐"
The Rybka Twins had fun acting out this trend as the characters from "Scooby Doo." Their video captioned, "We hired this van just to make this Tik Tok... ๐คฃ๐ถ๐" got more than 2.9 million views. One of their followers wrote in the comments, "This wins!!!" and another added, "Loving the dedication."'
Julian Burzynski took the trend to a new level by dressing as some of the "Mean Girls" characters and recreating some of the iconic Halloween scene, captioning the video, "Iโm a mouseโฆ DUH"
Comments on the video included, "๐๐your parents are always amazing costars! you all did AMAZING," "Your dad ๐๐๐ LOVE !๐ฅฐ and your mama, fabulous! As always ! ๐," "tell me why I would watch the entire movie with you as all of the characters ๐," and "Dad's face ๐๐๐๐ also.. These costumes are perfection as always ๐."
Burzynski also posted a follow-up video acting out another part of the Halloween scene from the movie. The video is captioned, "MEAN GIRLS HALLOWEEN." One follower commented, "Better than the original honestly." Many other comments shared the same thought. "The fact that the costumes are PERFECT. ๐๐ผ I can't. its like watching the movie..but better ๐ฅฐ," one person wrote. Another added, "The way you embody each character to perfection."
