Broadway Will Go Dark To Honor Angela Lansbury!

Broadway will recognize the life, legacy and success of Dame Angela Lansbury this weekend.
The Great White Way will be dimmed on October 15, as a tribute to the legendary actress.

On Thursday, October 13, The Broadway League announced it will dim all the marquees on Broadway in memory of Lansbury.
The memorial will last for one minute and take place on Saturday.
The President of the Broadway League, Charlotte St. Martin, said in a statement,
“Angela Lansbury was without a doubt one of Broadway’s most endearing leading actresses and her influence in the world of musical theatre will forever live on.”

Lansbury is synonymous with Broadway.
Her contributions to live theater will never be forgotten.
“It is impossible to think of Broadway and not be reminded of Ms. Lansbury and some of her most iconic roles –from ‘Mame’ and ‘Gpsy’ to ‘Sweeney Todd’ — just to name a few,” Martin’s statement continued. “We think of her as Broadway royalty and a member of our family. While recognizing that Hollywood thinks of her the same way. We’re just proud she’s ours too! Along with her legendary career and outstanding talent, it will be her grace, charisma, and kindness that we will fondly remember of the great Angela Lansbury.”
The Blast reportedly earlier this week on the passing of Lansbury.
Angela Lansbury Was 5 Days Shy Of Her 97th Birthday
She passed away five days before her 97th birthday.
The star was famously known for her roles in “Murder She Wrote,” “Beauty In The Beast” as Mrs. Potts, the singing teapot, and “Mary Poppins Returns.”
Her family announced the passing of the 96-year-old.
“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 AM today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022,” the statement read.
It also noted that Lansbury was “just five days shy of her 97th birthday.”
Lansbury was a highly decorated actress with several awards ranging from Tonys to Academy Awards.

She won an honorary Academy Award in 2014, a BAFTA in 1991 for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, a BAFTA/LA Britannia Awards for Lifetime Achievement in Television and Film. She also won five Tony Awards.
Her list of accolades goes on and on.
“Star Wars” actor, Mark Hamill, remembered Lansbury on Twitter sharing a sweet tribute.
“I was privileged to see her in MAME & SWEENEY TODD (twice) & as the cold-blooded psychopathic mother in the classic MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, she created one of the greatest screen villains of all time. An artist of astonishing versatility. #RIPAngelaLansbury,” he tweeted.
