"America's Got Talent" contestant, Nolan Neal, died in July 2022. The official cause has now been revealed to the public three months after his death. An autopsy was carried out on his body, and its results showed that the singer passed away due to ingestion of several drug combinations. A mixture of substances had been found in his system. 

Aged 41 years, Neal lost his life after battling substance abuse for years. Months back, his body was found in his apartment by his roommate, who proceeded to call 911.

Sequel to the autopsy on Neal's body, it has been revealed that substances were discovered in his system. According to Page SixNeal died because of "acute combined drug toxicity." This statement was made on Thursday by a spokesperson at the Davidson County Medical Examiner Office in Nashville.

As reported by the publicationmorphine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and acetyl fentanyl were the drugs that made up the cocktail combination found in the late singer's system. The autopsy report was completed on October 13th, and the death was also ruled an accident.

His Body Was Found In His Apartment

The "Lost" singer was found dead in July alone in his bedroom. His roommate discovered his body and called the emergency services. Upon arrival, the officers found a "black guitar pack that appeared to contain a powder residue" lying on the desk beside the bed.

As reported by People, he was confirmed dead by the local medical examiner and by his cousin, Dylan SealsBefore the autopsy report by the medical officer, Seals had commented that Neal lost his life to his struggle with substance abuse. His family had announced his death and his daughter, Cathy, set up a GoFundMe account for well-meaning community members to donate to the funeral.

Nolan Neal Struggled with Addiction

Neal has always been open about his struggle with substance abuse and addiction. Speaking in an interview with WBIR in 2020, he said, "I remember I got clean in 2010; on May 15th, went to rehab. Stayed clean. I joined the rock band Hinder, they were all about drinking and partying. This is not their fault."

He talked about how he tried to remain clean but derailed several times and that he even drank while competing on "The Voice" in 2015. However, Neal revealed back then that he found the best way to stay away from alcohol and maintain a clean lifestyle. "I found happiness by helping others in recovery. I found a way to be happy without the things I thought made me happy before," he said.

The revelation of his death was a shock to all, considering his fight with substance abuse and consequent win.

The "Better than me" singer serenaded fans with great music for years but also won their hearts with his kind and empathic nature. Upon news of his death, the internet got flooded with tributes to the singer and well wishes for his family.

Distraught, a user wrote on Twitter, "I felt so happy when he responded to my DM, and he was really nice and kind. He will be missed. Fly high." "Nolan Neal was an incredible talent with infectious energy and a warm spirit. Writing and performing with him was some of the most fun I've had in music," another user wrote. "Nashville and the world of music lost a beautiful voice and soul today," one user penned down.

Speaking to People, Simon Cowell expressed how sad the news of Neal's death left him. "I was thinking about this the other day. People [who] passed too soon. Every time it happens, because you've gotten to know them, it's horrible."

The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge also referenced the death of Nightbirde, his 'AGT' Golden buzzer selection, "The unfortunate thing is it's happened too many times and every time it happens, it's hard." He explained how these deaths had motivated him to appreciate every day he's alive and to remain positive and healthy.
