June Shannon, or Mama June, was having a breakdown at the end of season three. The rest of the family was struggling to get June some help, and they had turned to professionals for guidance. Unfortunately, it appeared that things were getting worse. June and boyfriend Geno Doak were arrested last March for drug possession. Geno also faced domestic violence charges.

Both June and Geno pleaded not guilty last October, and they will appear in court this May to fight those charges.

June's ex, "Sugar Bear," is also thinking about changing the custody agreement regarding Alana, or "Honey Boo Boo." In the show, Alana is seen living with her older sister, Lauryn ("Pumpkin").

Mama June is also recovering from a small stroke and learns that another stroke could happen in the near future.

Much of the footage featured on the show is from May 2019, a time in which many of the family members had no idea where June was. She had not returned to the family home after her arrest.
