Shannen Doherty Pens Tearful Tribute To Late Father After Best Friend's Death

Shannen Doherty is having a rough week and shared a touching post to her late father on what would have been his 76th birthday, which came just days after her best friend passed away. The "Beverly Hills, 90210" star's dad, John Thomas Doherty Jr., passed away nearly 10 years ago but the actress reached out to him in a tearful tribute on Wednesday after experiencing another terrible loss earlier this week. Taking to her social media, Shannen Doherty wished her father a happy birthday and shared a childhood snap showing the duo dancing together.
"My dad..... always. Wish you were here. Miss you forever," the actress began her loving homage. Revealing it has "been a tough day," she added, "I wish I could share with you and feel the comfort of your hug and love." Shannen Doherty, who announced the death of her best friend, Deborah Waknin Harwin, on Monday continued by saying she hoped her father greeted her bestie at the pearly white gates. "Happy birthday," Shannen Doherty wrote. "I’m sure you greeted Deb and you two are trading your dark jokes back and forth."
Several fans sent the "90210" star words of comfort by commenting and sharing their own stories of loss on her post. As The Blast reported, Shannen Doherty revealed Deb's death earlier this week and reminisced about their almost 30-year friendship. Saying they supported each other through "divorces, tears and laughter," the actress also said they were there for one another during each of their cancer diagnoses. Giving fans insight on her friend's personality, Shannen Doherty added, "Deb I hope you are dancing on tables again, having a tequila and shooting the shit with God."
Fellow actress Sarah Michelle Gellar also paid tribute to Deb and lent her support to her dear friend Shannen Doherty. As The Blast reported, the "90210" star has been holed up at her home in Malibu, CA and went off on those who flocked to the beaches and many other common places over the weekend instead of staying inside amid the Coronavirus outbreak. Shannen Doherty is currently battling stage 4 cancer, which she revealed came back right before her friend and "90210" co-star Luke Perry's sudden death.
