Earlier this week Ellen DeGeneres and her partners at the Fox network confirmed that her daily talk show will be airing reruns for the foreseeable future. Ellen has been one of the celebrities most vocal about promoting self-isolation amid the coronavirus pandemic, so it isn’t much of a surprise that ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ would be put on hold. Fans don’t seem to be worried given the fact they are not missing any action from Ellen as she has taken to social media.
From her Montecito home, Ellen has created a huge online presence in the Instagram Live and IGTV community. Whether out of boredom or out of pure enjoyment, she and wife Portia de Rossi have been giving the fans some at-home entertainment with quarantined antics and a glimpse into their beautiful home, a Balinese-inspired compound, that has been featured by countless design publications, including Architectural Digest. While the birds are chirping just beyond their full wall of windows, Ellen has made sure to keep herself busy with Portia and her famous friends.
Ellen’s quarantine began with high hopes of completing a 4,000 piece jigsaw puzzle but soon came to an end in a follow-up post where the talk show host explained that she was unable to complete it because of missing pieces. “There’s only 3,499. There’s not 4,000 pieces and I don’t know about you but when you get to the end of the puzzle and you feel so good and accomplished and there’s one piece missing it’s not fun,” Ellen tells fans. But, fortunately, just one post later she discovers the missing piece.
While the puzzle doesn’t seem to be getting done, Ellen does move on to some interesting conversations with her former MC and long time friend DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss and his wife. She continues to post while catching up with other famous celebrity couples, starting with Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, before moving on to John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. But, it’s not all fun and games with Ellen Degeneres, she’s also using this time to brush up on important skills like learning card tricks via FaceTime with no other than David Blaine.
Unfortunately, Ellen’s social media fun was quickly soured when a popular Twitter thread by comedian Kevin T. Porter sought out to prove the many rumors that have been floating around about Ellen’s “diva” personality. In the post, Porter promised to donate $2 to the LA Food Bank but with over 1.7K comments he only donated $600. Seemingly the positive outcome was outweighed by the negative effort to bring down DeGeneres. As Ellen moved on to a lego project from her puzzle, her comments began to fill with hate rather than the enthusiasm she has before. Many of the comments have since been deleted.
