Megan Thee Stallion revealed back in February that she had issues with the Houston-based record label that shes's signed with, 1501 Certified Entertainment such as not being able to release new music. She added that when she initially signed with them when she was 20, she didn't understand her contract.
Megan ended up receiving a temporary restraining order by a Texas judge which would allow her to release the new music that she wanted. That resulted in the release of the 'Suga' EP on March 9.

The EP contained 9 tracks with features from Kehlani and Gunna. The record on this project that looks like it ended up being the most popular is Savage. It's momentum has built up to the point where a young lady named Keara Wilson created a dance for it.
Wilson's dance ended up going viral as Megan co-signed it and posted Wilson doing the dance on her own Instagram page. The Houston rapper said "Welp let me go learn this lol #savagechallenge."

The dance spread like wildfire as Megan posted other celebrities who participated in the challenge such as Keke Palmer,Marsai Martin, and also Ryan Destiny and Normani who made a video together. Normani and Megan also recently collaborated on the song Diamonds which appeared on the 'Birds Of Prey' movie soundtrack. The Savage Challenge continues to be popular among other users on social media as it's done a great job of helping people get their minds off of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Savage Challenge videos then started to make frequent appearances on the popular app, TikTok, after Wilson created the dance. This app has been popular in general on social media since the coronavirus forced people to stay in their homes to avoid contracting it. People have used social media trends/dances as a coping mechanism and therefore, we have the Savage Challenge now which is sure to last for a while. Hopefully, things calm down soon so Megan can shoot the music video for the song as well.

The first single for Megan's Suga EP was initially B.I.T.C.H. which is a sample off of 2Pac's 1996 'Ratha Be Ya N****" record from his 'All Eyez On Me" album. This was another record that made a lot of noise for Megan but when Savage was released, her momentum skyrocketed in the midst of the label drama with 1501. Three days ago, Savage reached the top of the Hip-Hop/Rap charts on iTunes. Now, fans are awaiting her debut album that's expected to be out this year.
