Kotaku reports that during TwitchCon, streamers were taking part in foam gladiatorial-style jousting matches on elevated platforms. Some people were reportedly hurt after jumping into the foam pit, and Chechik appears to be one of them. TwitchCon was held from Friday through Sunday at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.

In the clip, Chechik is celebrating before taking a big leap and hitting the foam pieces of the pit. She appeared to land badly and looked to be in pain. Soon, it was clear something was wrong and she was heard saying, "I can't get up."

Chechick later announced the extent of her injuries. She rolled over in clear pain as officials checked on her. She wrote on her Twitter on Sunday, "Well, I broke my back in two places and am getting surgery to put a meter rod in for support today. Send your support. When it rains it pours and I am definitely feeling the rain right now."

The foam pit was a collaboration between Intel and Lenovo. As noted by Kotaku, a spokesperson for Lenovo revealed that the pit was later closed after the incident. Other attendees, including EdyBot and The Washington Post's Nathan Grayson, indicated the injuries were likely caused by how shallow the pit is.
