In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, countless people have lost their jobs, and subsequently, don’t have an income to help pay for bills or put food on their table. It’s become very dire, resulting in people depending on food bank charities to supply essential needs for survival.
And while some celebrities have openly shared that they would help individuals through sending money on ‘Cash App’ and ‘Venmo’, like Bebe Rexha, the ‘Vanderpump Rules‘ star, Scheana Shay, is not one of them. In fact, she’s been urging fans to stop asking her for money on social media.
“This is a crazy time! But PLEASE you guys, stop asking me for $ on @venmo,” Shay tweeted out to her fans on Friday, March 20. “It makes me feel terrible reading your stories of why you need $$ and I am not rich! I support my family and have a ton of friends in the same situation right now. I wish I could help everyone but I can’t.”
The reality television star went on to share that her whole family is working hard right now and that none of them can afford to make donations to people amid the coronavirus pandemic.
I’m sorry, but do you know how much/little $$ I make or bills I have or HOW MANY people and charities I already help? No. I’ve been asked for up to $700 to “pay tuition”. Am I really supposed to even believe these requests? My heart goes out to those hurting, but I just can’t. https://t.co/x6xueusC4R

“My dad is still doing hard labor working full time during this pandemic. My mom does more than I could ever ask her for and who the hell wouldn’t want their mom to be able to help them full time w work. PLEASE stop asking me for $$. I can not afford to save the [world],” Shay continued.
Shay explained to her fans that she knows where they’re coming from, especially in a time when money is scarce and people are struggling to get by. “I didn’t grow up rich,” she wrote. “My family worked very hard to give me an amazing childhood and everything i wanted.”

“But i do know what it’s like to check my bank account 7x a day to see if the auto debit came out or not so I could pay rent. I get the struggle & I empathize,” Shay continued in her plea to fans.
And while the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ staple shared that she is hoping for the best with everyone’s circumstances, she claimed that she’s been in dire financial situations before, citing a time when she maxed out all of her credit cards. “I maxed out every credit card I had. But I NEVER once asked for a handout from ANYONE, let alone a stranger on TV,” she explained on social media.

“I love you all but please, i had to figure it all out on my own and I did and I’m okay! I have faith you’ll be able to do the same,” Shay concluded in her rant.
Just last week, Shay garnered criticisms after making a post stating that she would not be adhering to the recommendations of ‘self-quarantining’. “Any of my friends working from home this week should come join me for a Palm Springs quarantine,” she wrote on Twitter.
“I will continue to live my life in Palm Springs or MDR w my friends and not live it in complete isolation or fear. Simple as that. Call me ‘ignorant’ but I’m not gonna stop living.”
Bc I’m a very compassionate person and if I was rich, I would answer every Venmo and pay all of my friends’ rent who are out of a job. But I’m not and I can’t. It makes me sad to see how many are struggling but I am too! I don’t make nearly as much as y’all think & i have BILLS! https://t.co/Dqx0SANhBe
