Now that Katy Perry has publicly announced her pregnancy, the singer is offering new insights into how she managed to hide her growing baby bump from the public for so long.
Perry announced the video in the video for her latest song, "Never Worn White." In the video, Perry can be seen cradling her baby bump in a white dress. Following the announcement, Perry called into Sirius XM Hits 1 to discuss the news, and offer speculation as to why no one thought she was pregnant.

“I’ve always been hungry, and I’ve never liked crunches, so they just thought I was curvy and hungry. And yes, I am curvy and hungry!," Perry said.
Perry also dressed strategically to avoid showing off her changing figure. She would wear giant bows on the front of her outfits, or carry a bag over her belly when she was spotted in public. She had to be incredibly careful to avoid ruining the surprise that she and fiance Orlando Bloom were expecting.

Perry also went on Instagram Live immediately following the release of the video, and discussed what a busy summer it will be for her and Bloom.
“There’s a lot that will be happening this summer. Not only will I be giving birth — literally — but also figuratively, to something you guys have been waiting for," Perry said, explaining that her new album is also set to be released then. Before she shared the news with her fans, though, Perry told her family about her pregnancy.

In fact, Perry was able to tell her grandmother the news just before her grandmother passed away. She posted a touching video of the moment on her Instagram. “Grandma, it’s Katy,” Perry says, “I wanted to share some exciting news with you. I’m going to tell you that I’m gonna have a baby. I’m pregnant, Grandma.”
In addition to sharing the news with her grandma, Perry's mom also found out, although that announcement didn't exactly go as the singer planned.

The "I Kissed a Girl" singer had planned to give her mother a bottle of wine with the news on the label. Before she was able to follow through on that plan, though, her mother came to her house and began perusing her wine collection.
Perry admitted that her mom's decision was strange, as it's not something she nomrally does. As a result of her careful search, though, Perry's mom found the bottle with the announcement on it and spoiled the surprise for herself.
