50 Cent will be facing off with his arch-nemesis Rick Ross in court later this month.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Rick Ross is scheduled to be deposed by 50 Cent on March 25 in Georgia.
50 Cent is suing his former lawyers at the firm Reed Smith LLP. The rapper accuses his former counsel of malpractice stemming from their representation of him in the lawsuit brought by Rick Ross’ baby mama, Lastonia Leviston. She accused him of leaking a copy of her sex tape online. A jury ended up ordering 50 Cent to pay Leviston $7 million in damages.
In his lawsuit, 50 accuses his former lawyers of not doing everything they could to defend him. He believes they could have obtained information from an internet provide which he claims would prove he didn’t leak the sex tape first. He says Rick Ross should have been deposed but they never grilled him.

The rapper believes if Rick Ross was deposed in the case the jury would NOT have hit him with the $7 million in damages. He claims the judgment caused him to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Reed Smith denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case.
Back in December, 50 Cent filed documents informing the court he was attempting to depose Rick Ross in the current case. He accused Ross of blowing off multiple subpoenas that sought information about Leviston’s sex tape release and a deposition. 50 believes Rick Ross had a role in being the first to leak the tape online. 50 demanded Rick Ross be ordered to sit and answer questions about the case.
50 Cent got his way and the deposition is finally going down later this month.

In newly filed documents, Reed Smith is demanding the March 25 deposition continue on despite the Coronavirus outbreak. The law firm says the deposition should be conducted remotely but 50 is trying to push it back to another date. Reed Smith argues the depo has been delayed for months and wants it to take place this month.
They argue, “Remote technology can allow Mr. Jackson’s counsel to question Mr. Ross in real- time, to observe his facial and physical responses to questions, to introduce documents, and to question Mr. Ross about them. Conducting the deposition remotely will also be less costly—and far safer—for all counsel to this adversary proceeding who live and work in New York and Connecticut. Mr. Ross’s deposition can also be conducted remotely by telephone.”
A judge has yet to rule.
50 Cent is still battling it out in a separate lawsuit with a "Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood" cast member.
