Hollywood veteran, Emma Thompson, recently looked back at her youthful days and recalled spending two days nude with actor Jeff Goldblum while shooting a movie. Earlier this year, the actress acted beside Daryl McCormack in a rom-com movie, “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande.”
While looking back at the film, Thompson recalled a nude rehearsal she participated in to prepare her for a nude scene. Besides the 63-year-old, her co-star McCormack and Sophie Hyde, the film’s director, were a part of the rehearsal.
Thompson also spoke about a similar experience she had in her 20s, which served to prepare her for the rehearsal. The actress revealed that while filming with Goldblum in the late 1980s, she spent two days with the actor entirely nude.

Emma Thompson Spent Two Days ‘Nude’ With Jeff Goldblum
British actress Emma Thompson joined Vanity Fair in a Tuesday interview and shed some light on her time filming her movie, “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande.” The 63-year-old revealed that during the movie, she had to film some nude scenes, and in preparation for that, she rehearsed in the nude with her co-star McCormack.
While she faced some difficulty initially, Thompson revealed she had been in a similar position decades ago. The actress recalled a time in her 20s when she spent “two delightful days” naked with Goldblum. At the time, the duo was filming a 1989 romantic comedy named “The Tall Guy.”
Thompson recalled, “I had done nudity before. I spent two delightful days nude with Jeff Goldblum when I was in my 20s. We were both so nervous. It was in The Tall Guy, and we were so nervous. We both had indigestion, I think, for two weeks beforehand. But once we got into it, we just had the best time.”
Emma Thompson Said She Felt The Experience Would Be Useful
Further on, the “Cruella” actress revealed that she was able to do the scene because she had a feeling it would be a helpful experience for her in the future.
Thompson said, “That has always stood me in good stead because I always remember thinking, “Oh, it’s okay, it’s fine. It’s all right.” As long as you are calm, everyone else is calm.” The experience favored the 63-year-old as she did not feel as uncomfortable while doing something similar for “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande.”
“I knew Sophie and me and Daryl; we’d all said, “We have to take our kit off before the day; otherwise, it’ll just feel too pointed,” if you’ll pardon the unfortunate expression,” the actress said.
She Made The Director Join Them For The ‘Nude’ Rehearsal
The movie’s director, Hyde, reportedly cleared out a space for the nude rehearsal. She also joined Thompson and McCormack in the location after a request from the actress. Thompson said, “She cleared the little rehearsal space, which had already become quite womblike, and I jokingly said, ‘Soph, you’ll have to take your clothes off as well.”
While the director initially refused, the 63-year-old revealed that she eventually joined them. The trio took some time to get nude, and according to Thompson, they spoke about each revealed body part and what it meant to them.
The “Nanny McPhee” actress continued, “So we all took our clothes off bit by bit. And each time we did, we said, ‘This part of my body means this to me. And in this part of my body, I have felt these things. And in this part of my body, I’ve got this scar which came from this experience,’ or, ‘I’ve got an internal scar,’ or, ‘This is the bit that I like. This is the bit I don’t like. I find this bit difficult.'”
Emma Thompson Said It Was Difficult To Unlearn Brainwashing
During the Vanity Fair interview, Thompson revealed that she had been brainwashed for a long time since she was “very young” and that unlearning it was challenging. She explained that it was worse for people now, mostly due to the presence of social media.
“Instead of people saying, “We are now going to inhabit the world in our real selves, in our real forms,” people are taking their forms and photoshopping them themselves,” the actress explained. “Everything that I was brought up with, which only happened in magazines, is now happening to people on people’s phones.”
“Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” was released in January this year and saw Thompson play Nancy Stokee, a retired school teacher. In the film, the former educator enlists the aid of Leo Grande (McCormack), a sex worker, in her quest to start her post-marital sexual journey.
