Mackenzie McKee appears to have either protected herself or thrown her Instagram followers a little shade – earlier this month, the "Teen Mom OG" star found herself slammed after a promo post for weight-loss brand Boom Bod had fans begging her to stop.

Mackenzie picked good timing for her latest Boom Bod ad. "Teen Mom OG" airs tonight with a new season – don't think that reality stars don't time their social media content to coordinate with viewers tuning into shows. Of course, with Mackenzie being one of the fittest "Teen Mom" members, it makes sense that she's fronting a slimming company.

Mackenzie's last Boom Bod ad came exactly seven days ago. The Oklahoma native had posted a selfie showing off her jaw-dropping gym body – the mom of three had taken to her caption to vow that she feels "soooo much better" with the Boom Bod shots.

Fans weren't wholly unimpressed, but comments saw the star probed.

"You girls really have to stop pushing this stuff ??‍♀️," one user had written.

"Don't buy this stuff. It's a con and not healthy at all. They're basically a laxative," another had said.

"These are so bad for you! They are trying to ban them in the UK. You lose weight as it’s basically a laxative" was another comment.

Mackenzie's Tuesday update showed side-by-side photos of the star as she returned to Instagram for a little promo – Mackenzie fully abided by the platform's required #ad, also looking gorgeous as she showed off her ripped body and a particularly rock-hard set of abs while wearing a pale pink sports bra and sweatpants.

"#ad alright so I have a few @boombod programs under my belt, and I get asked pretty often what they’re all about.. SO here’s the details," she wrote, adding:

"?I use this program to help kick cravings (and whenever I need an extra little boost of motivation to stick with my gym routine)

? they contain ZERO laxatives ? the flavors are super tasty - I’m a big fan of the Blackcurrant

✅ annnnndd they have a buy one get one free sale on Boombod.com"

Mackenzie's post had comments disabled, but the views are what counts. As The Blast has previously reported, Mackenzie's potential earnings could like anywhere between $2,673 and $4,455. Pay on Instagram directly correlates to following, with Influencer Marketing Hub suggesting this figure less than a month ago – Mackenzie has since gained at least 100,000 followers.

Mackenzie is also a partner with Justice Nutrition – she also isn't the only "Teen Mom" fronting diet brands. Earlier this year, "Teen Mom 2" star Leah Messer had fans unfollowing her after a controversial Flat Tummy App post.

Over at Vox, experts have been weighing in on what social media influencers can earn for this posts.

"Influencers with up to 1 million followers can get $10,000 [per post], depending on the platform, and 1 million followers and up, you’re getting into territory where they can charge $100,000. Some can even get $250,000 for a post!"

Mackenzie has under 1 million followers, but her popularity has seen her following shoot up fast this year.

Ahead of "Teen Mom OG" airing tonight, Mackenzie took to Instagram with a serious post, confirming that she wouldn't be watching the new season, also stating that she had disabled her Twitter on account of her mental health. Of course, mentions were made of the tragic December 2019 death of mom Angie Douthit.

In newer developments, Mackenzie appears to have now enabled comments.
