After the affair was revealed, rumors of a divorce between Beyonce and Jay-Z started circulating. However, one month later, the couple went on their world tour together, On The Run.

The rumors went out of control, in 2016 when Beyonce released her sixth album titled, Lemonade. Once the album was released, many of the lyrics of the songs talked about her husband's alleged affair.

Jay-Z had a response to this album of his wife's when he released his own album, 4:44. This album was a way for him to apologize to her for what he did.

After Jay-Z admitted that his marriage with Beyonce "wasn't totally built on 100 percent truth", he also admitted that it took a lot of work, including willpower and determination to work through the problems in their marriage.

He said, "Things start happening that the public can see. Then we had to get to a point of ‘OK, tear this down and let’s start from the beginning.’ It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

He told CNN, that he fought for his marriage with Beyonce because she is his soulmate. He said, "For us, we chose to fight for our love. For our family. To give our kids a different outcome. To break that cycle for black men and women.”
