Trevor Noah appears to have his fans in mind even as he recently announced his imminent exit from the highly loved TV series “The Daily Show.”
Fans will recall that he gave a pretty early announcement; however, he seems to have an explanation which he shared in a “TDS” episode that was reposted on their official Instagram page.
Trevor Noah Says He Did Not Want His Exit To Be An ‘Irish Goodbye’
In the video, an audience member expressed how sad he and fellow fans were about Noah’s exit. He then asked if his leave would involve the same “whole process” it took for his predecessor Jon Stewart to pass the position down to him.
The political commentator appreciated the fan’s sadness but likened his situation to a happy funeral where people celebrated while he was in a coffin but still alive. He added that he did not believe that any good goodbye at a good time was a good one but was also aware of the huge transition that would occur as his successor came on board.
Noah further acknowledged those who contributed to the show’s success, including the “many people” that helped him put his vision on a page and inspired him and his ideas. He then said:
“So it is a huge process, and so that’s why I tell you that I’m going so that it’s not like an Irish goodbye.”
The television host explained his reference to an “Irish goodbye” where he would appear on a particular day and bid his fans farewell without prior notice, making them wonder where he disappeared. He added, “So the goal is that you know none of us are left in a place where we feel like it was instant or we feel like it was a surprise.”

Noah believed the joy in everything was knowing how best one did it. He also hoped the audience kept returning to the show to support the new presenter just as they did when he joined the network.
Another viewer asked what he had missed out on doing in the last seven years that he looked forward to doing, leading the actor to explain that he did not see those years as a “one time period.” He would always be grateful for those times because of the opportunity he was given, the skills he had to “hone and craft,” and the learning he experienced.
To answer the question, Noah said he missed doing all the things he got to do around the world, especially post-pandemic. He was excited that he would get to do them again before noting that having the “time to do” was a blessing and luxury.
Nevertheless, he looked forward to “living a little more, expressing a little more, growing a little more, and trying new things” after “The Daily Show.”
Towards the end of September, the South African comedian shocked the world with news of his exit from the Comedy Central show leading fans to wonder what was next. The Blast, however, reported that the program is set to go on without him and would continue on Comedy Central.
Although, there were chatters within the industry about it becoming an exclusive show on Paramount+ after Noah leaves. The 38-year-old’s announcement was supposedly not expected by show staffers and Comedy Central, including Paramount executive Chris McCarthy, who is in charge of the cable channel.
It is also worth knowing that Noah had lunch with McCarthy a day before dropping the bomb but apparently gave no hint that he would publicly announce his leave the following day.

Following seven significant years of hosting the award-winning talk show and earning a collection of awards, Noah surprisingly announced his leave on September 29, breaking numerous hearts. The news was shared through their official Instagram, which The Blast reported, including his heartfelt words to his fans.
The brilliant writer expressed his gratitude for the support shown to him for nearly a decade before saying that he realized after seven years that his time hosting was up.
He believed it was in “the most beautiful way” and conveyed his love for hosting the program, calling the experience one of his “greatest challenges” and “greatest joys.” Noah has no doubt had quite the memorable moments on the satire show but felt it was time to explore other parts of his life apart from standup comedy.
