Billy Eichner Claims Straight People Didn’t Help
The actor’s romantic comedy debut in theaters this weekend and now that the numbers are in and they landed in the number four spot, one of the stars Eichner is upset at the lack of attention the film got.
“Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight! You will have a blast! And it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often. I love this movie so much. GO BROS!!!” He wrote on Twitter.

The actor received an enormous amount of replies stating that it has nothing to do with homophobia and more boredom from a bad script.
“I'm not homophobic at all, but you really should have cast a likable actor as the lead. You began screeching in the opening scene & never stopped. I saw it with gay friends & this shut us down. One friend grew so bored that he started texting. I understood. Write better scripts,” replied an annoyed fan.
Billy Eichner Doubled Down On The Drama
Eichner continued to tweet he is disappointed in the world we live in because his film didn’t do as well as he assumed it would.
“That’s just the world we live in, unfortunately,” he said. He did recognize that the film received good reviews which is why he may have assumed that people would run to the theaters to make it number one.
“Glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for Bros. And that’s disappointing but it is what it is.”
The actor continued to put his foot in his mouth on Twitter apparently blaming straight people for the downfall of his film. Eichner managed to compose himself and end the night with a nice message.
“Last night I snuck in and sat in the back of a sold out theater playing BROS in LA. The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end, and some were wiping away tears as they walked out. It was truly magical. Really. I am VERY proud of this movie.”

Billy Eichner Had Tough Competition
Bros is up against some tough elements to hit that number one spot. First up, the movie was released in the Halloween season so automatically, people are not in a lovey-dovey mood. Next up, it’s up against a horror movie, Smile, very appropriate for October and Don’t Worry Darling that movie with all the drama behind the scenes.
Plus, as nice as scores and reviews are, not many viewers rely heavily on those anymore so, there’s that!
