Former soccer player David Beckham has reportedly read son, Brooklyn, the “riot act” due to the publicity Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz, have brought to their family affairs. During a recent interview, Peltz spoke about the alleged feud between her and her mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, and said the designer ghosted her during the wedding dress preparations.
A source revealed that Peltz’s interview had provoked David, who felt that the couple had “washed the family’s dirty linen in public.” Family friends have also revealed that the Beckhams are privately comparing their family drama to that of the British royal family and see Peltz as problematic, like Duchess Meghan Markle.
David reportedly confronted his son because he’s trying to protect Victoria, who’s very hurt by Brooklyn’s increasing distance from his family since he married Peltz. The family tension first became obvious at Peltz and Brooklyn’s wedding in April, where the couple shunned his family through most of the festivities. Read on to find out more.
David Beckham Confronted His Son
According to a Daily Mail report, David “read the riot act” to Brooklyn during a recent confrontation. Father and son are usually very close, so the rare confrontation is a sign that the family drama has heightened. A source revealed to the publication that David talked to Brooklyn about Peltz’s recent interview with Grazia Magazine.
The source said, “I’m told that Beckham’ read the riot act’ to Brooklyn last week, telling him: ‘We don’t do that in this family. I don’t think David has ever lost his temper with Brooklyn or had cause to talk to him harshly, but that has now finally happened.”
They continued, “He had it out with him and told him: ‘We don’t do this in our family – and you know that we don’t do this in our family.'” The football legend also reportedly told his son, “What happens next is up to you,” but that the rest of the family is “done with the drama.”
Nicola Peltz’s Interview Provoked David Beckham
The rare father-son disagreement results from Peltz’s interview, during which she addressed rumors about a feud between her and Victoria. The actress revealed that the tension between her and her mother-in-law stemmed from Victoria allegedly ghosting her during the wedding dress preparations.
The source explained that the interview provoked David. They said, “David was really appalled by the Grazia interview because it seemed to be washing the family dirty linen in public – and he said that [Brooklyn’s brothers] Romeo and Cruz are also hurt by it. It was probably a shock as he’s never done anything other than tell Brooklyn how much he adores him.”
Family friends also spoke to Daily Mail and shared that the Beckhams have privately discussed the drama and compared the situation to the British royal family drama concerning Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle. The family also reportedly blames Peltz for the drama, much like many British people blame Markle.
Victoria Beckham Is Hurt By Brooklyn’s Increasing Distance From The Family
David and Victoria have been married for over 20 years, so it’s natural that he’s so protective of her. The supermodel has reportedly been extremely hurt by Brooklyn’s increasing distance from his parents and siblings since he married Peltz. The tension seems to stem back to the couple’s April wedding, which was mostly planned by Peltz’s mother, Claudia.
During the wedding festivities, which lasted a weekend, Peltz changed into three outfits, none of which were designed by Victoria, who is a famous designer. The Beckhams were also not seated at the high table during the festivities, and the young couple seemed distant from Brooklyn’s side.
Nicola Peltz Said Victoria Beckham Ghosted Her
During the Grazia interview, Peltz claimed that Victoria had ghosted her after promising to make her wedding dress. She explained that she, her stylist Leslie Fremar, and her mom had been very excited to have Victoria design the dress until the designer ghosted her for days.
Peltz said that Victoria eventually said she couldn’t make the dress during a call with her mom, forcing her to seek second options. She said the rumors about her not wanting Beckham to design her dress were false and hurt her feelings.
Brooklyn was also present for the interview and said he completely supports Peltz. The aspiring chef said, “To be honest, my wife is obviously my first priority and I never want to see her upset ever. We have each other’s back 100 percent and we just move on together.”
