During a chat with Justin Bieber on The Ellen DeGeneres show, Demi expressed her gratitude for Hailey Bieber.

The first week of March was “Justin Bieber Week” on the talk show. Not only was Bieber there, but Lovato stopped by too. The pair had a lot to talk about seeing as they’ve both had similar struggles in recent years.

Justin, 26, just released a documentary where he detailed his battle with substance abuse. Demi, 27, overdosed in 2018 and is making her way back into the spotlight.

Both musicians have been in the entertainment industry since they were children.

At the end of his week on the show, Demi took the lead and interviewed Justin. He discussed his upcoming tour and said he intended to spend time with his wife, Hailey.

That’s when Demi stepped in to complement the well-known model.

“I like to joke around with Scooter that she’s my little guardian angel,” Demi said. “Anytime I’m having a bad night, she just appears and makes it better. She’s that type of girl. At the Met Gala, I had a horrible experience, and then, she waited at the top of the stairs with me for 45 minutes. It was just the sweetest thing.”

It’s no secret Demi Lovato has had a rough time. The 27-year-old has struggled with alcohol abuse ever since she was a teenager. At 19, she decided to live a sober life, which lasted about six years.

Since her overdose in 2018, Demi has taken steps to get back on track.

She changed her management team, who she claimed were controlling. According to Demi, they took charge of her food intake and would take her phone away so she wouldn’t call room service.

During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Lovato admitted for many years she didn’t have a birthday cake. Instead, they’d give her a slice of watermelon with fat-free whipped cream.

"I think at some point it becomes dangerous to try to control someone’s food when they’re in recovery from an eating disorder," Lovato said.

And although she was sober during that time, Demi wasn’t happy because of all the restrictions.

"I was stuck in this unhappy position and here I am sober and I’m thinking to myself, 'I'm six years sober but I’m miserable. I’m even more miserable than I was when I was drinking. Why am I sober?'" she told Ellen.

Demi continued, "That night, I went to a party and there was other stuff there, and it was only three months before I ended up into the hospital with an OD."

Since her OD, Demi has switched management and now works with Scooter Bruan. Braun is best known for managing Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber; which might be why Demi has such a close relationship with Bieber.

Demi just released two singles, “Anyone” and “I Love Me.” Both tracks have powerful messages and we imagine her album will be similar.

Although there’s no release date, Demi's album is rumored to be released sometime this year.
