When asked about why fans tagged her a home wrecker and if she was ever dating the Canadian singer while he was with Gomez. Hailey gave an affirmative no. In her words:

"It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship. I would just never do that. I was raised better than that. I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody. That’s the end of it."

However, while explaining the timeline of her romance with her now-husband of four years, the Arizona native admitted things moved a little too fast, and that might have been the reason for the outrage.

"I think the timing was obviously very rapid and very fast, which now, being four years past that, looking back on it, I totally get it," she explained. "I'm like, 'Yeah, that seemed really drastic and really crazy.'" Nevertheless, Hailey has no regret marrying Justin so fast as she claims they are still going strong after four years of marriage.

"And I think just given the timeline of where he was at before we got back together and what was going on...there was just a lot happening," she said. "But I will say too, the only people that really know the truth of the situation and what the timeline really was and how it happened and how it went down are like me and him."

In the aftermath of Hailey’s revelations, it seems Gomez is tired of being associated with the topic. In a TikTok Live with her 43.6 million fans, the former Disney star shut down any idea that she hates on Hailey or encourages her fans to do so.

"I think some of the things I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting," she said with a somber look on her face. "And it’s not fair. No one ever should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen.

The 30-year-old, who is a strong champion for self-love, kindness, body positivity, and women uplifting one another, declared it was "incredibly ironic" that all her projects are about "kind words," but that’s not what’s happening.

Giving a bit of advice to her massive fan base, Gomez said, "If you support RARE, I can’t thank you enough but know that you’re also representing what it means, and that is — words matter. Truly matter."

She concluded her message by saying, "So, it ain’t coming from me, and I just want all of you to know, and I hope that you understand that this is much bigger than anything else. I’m really grateful to all of you for hearing me out."

It’s unsure what part of the interview Gomez is responding to, but Hailey did open up about the criticism she has received from Selenators and urged them to do better.

On the podcast, the "Drop The Mic" co-host had a message for Gomez’s fan base, saying, "The first thing I would say is you're not obligated to like me. But I believe that no matter what, there can always be mutual respect between people. And to me, that means just that you don't have to say anything. You don't have to like me, but you don't have to say anything either."

Also, when asked if she had ever spoken to Gomez to put an end to the "harassment" from her fan, Hailey answered, "No. What I will say is that she has been in this industry much longer than I have, and maybe there’s something that she knows about like it wouldn’t fix anything."
