Late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain's last texts were just unveiled in an allegedly unauthorized biography. The 61-year-old passed away in 2018 after taking his life in the middle of an assignment for his popular show.

Bourdain's last messages are being revealed four years after his passing via Charles Leerhsen's unauthorized biography of the chef. The book, titled "Down And Out In Paradise: The Life of Anthony Bourdain," sheds light on the 61-year-old's culinary career as well as his last text exchange with his girlfriend at the time, Asia Argento, and his estranged wife, Olivia Busia Bourdain.

In the book excerpts related to Argento and her exchange with Bourdain, the 61-year-old accused her of being "reckless" with his heart. Argento is an Italian actress and filmmaker and has starred in a number of films like "Land of the Dead."

During the exchange, Bourdain wrote, per NYT, "I am not jealous that you have been with another man. I do not own you. But you were careless. You were reckless with my heart. My life." The messages were reportedly sent the day before the author took his life. He revealed that he was especially heartbroken because the alleged affair was conducted in a hotel the duo went to often.

According to reports, Christopher, Bourdain's brother, took offense to the as-yet-unreleased biography. He claimed that the author, Leerhsen, had written down a defamatory depiction of his relationship with his family.

In a previous interview with HuffPost, however, the author claimed that Bourdain stopped speaking to Christopher two years before he passed away and "intensely disliked him." Leerhsen further revealed that several family members and friends had commended him for his "accurate" portrayal of the dynamics of the chef's family.

Leerhsen went on to reveal that his source(s) for the private text messages were "confidential." "The estate has not objected, and I don't anticipate any objections," he said. "I did not steal or in any sense 'take' them; they were given to me."

As of yet, Argento has not confirmed whether she did send and receive the unveiled text messages with Bourdain. According to The New York Times, the Italian actress did say, however, that she was not comfortable with the biography and had told Leerhsen that he "could not publish anything I said to him."

Despite the controversy surrounding the work, Olivia seemed to be the only person close to the late chef who was apparently unbothered. As his wife, she controls his estate, including his phone and laptop, where the book's most revealing parts were acquired.

According to the biography's publisher, Simon and Schuster, the work was a "groundbreaking, candid, well-sourced — but definitely unauthorized — biography of the celebrity chef and TV star Anthony Bourdain, based on extensive interviews with those who knew him intimately."
