Following yesterday's blockbuster news that Hugh Jackman would once again be returning to the role of Wolverine in Marvel's upcoming "Deadpool 3" sequel, Jackman and Ryan Reynolds decided to take the time to answer some fan questions that they are likely dying to know, especially in light of Jackman's last appearance as Wolverine, aka Logan, in the 2017 film "Logan."

For starters, how is Wolverine appearing in "Deadpool 3" going to work considering the character's ultimate fate in the 2017 movie "Logan." Well, Reynolds and Jackman opted to answer that question, and it was the closest thing they gave to a real answer in the very short, yet amusing, video.

In the "quick explainer video" Reynolds teased answering "timeline questions, the canon of the movie 'Logan,' MCU FAQ, and whether we can do this all day or not," referencing Chris Evans' catchphrase as Captain America in the MCU.

Ryan Reynolds And Hugh Jackman Comedically Troll Fans Over 'Deadpool 3'

Jackman opens the video by saying, "I had a lot of questions. I'm sure you had a lot of questions, but rest assured, we're going to answer them right now."

Instead, in the spirit of Reynolds' humor and the "Deadpool" movies, most of the video is obscured by Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" playing over the audio. So, no one can hear what Reynolds and Jackman are saying while the song is playing over their discussion. Fans might recall references to the British pop duo Wham! and George Michael in the original 2016 "Deadpool" movie.

The closest thing to a real answer is Reynolds answering Jackman's question, "How is Wolverine alive after 'Logan?'" Reynolds stated, "'Logan' takes place in 2029, totally separate thing. Logan died in 'Logan,' not touching." It's only when Reynolds starts to go on about "what actually happens in our film," before the Wham! song starts playing.

In short, Reynolds' answer implies that "Deadpool 3" will be set before the future events of "Logan." This means that Jackman will once again be able to don the famous claws once more and have some fun playing in the "Deadpool" sandbox.

Expectations For The Upcoming Sequel

For Reynolds and Jackman, the film will likely be a chance to at last right the wrongs of the greatly maligned "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which featured the initial big-screen debut of the infamous Merc With a Mouth. However, despite his famous nom de plume, producers opted to sew Deadpool's mouth shut as a joke in the film. This depiction of Deadpool was not well received and was all but ignored in the 2016 movie.

Of course, this was later referenced and partially retconned during the credits of "Deadpool 2," when Deadpool utilizes Cable's time-traveling device to go back in time to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" to kill this hated Deadpool variant.

The other burning question is likely how this film will tie into the greater MCU. Well, the MCU has already brought in past actors in other big-screen Marvel movies that were previously not connected to the MCU by using the "Multiverse" gimmick.

As a result, both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprised their roles as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in last year's "Spider-Man: No Way Home." Also, Patrick Stewart once again returned to the role of Professor Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, in Marvel's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" released earlier this year.

Reynolds and Jackman re-team with director Shawn Levy for the upcoming sequel. Levy previously worked with Reynolds on "Free Guy" and "The Adam Project." Meanwhile, Jackman was directed by Levy in "Real Steel."

Marvel's "Deadpool 3" will open in theaters on September 6, 2024.
