Camila Cabello Caught Off Guard While Shawn Mendes Plays On 'The Voice'

Camila Cabello is loving her time as a coach on “The Voice.”

However, she was recently caught off guard during the blind auditions thanks to her ex-boyfriend, Shawn Mendes.

Cabello and Mendes called off their years-long relationship in 2021.

Fans of “ShawMila,” as they were so aptly called, were STUNNED when the couple announced their breakup on social media earlier this month.

The now-former couple shared a joint statement that read, “Hey guys we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends.”

The statement concluded with appreciation for their fans the overwhelming support and love from the start before signing off as “Camila and Shawn.”

The shocking split happened two years after going public with their long-buzzed about relationship.

On Tuesday’s episode of “The Voice,” Cabello along with her fellow-coaches were holding blind auditions.

Contestant Tanner Howe delivered a rendition of Shawn Mendes‘ hit track “Mercy.”

The 25-year-old immediately recognized the song and things got awkward.

“Is that my… Is that Shawn up there?” she asked the other judges. “I was like, is Shawn onstage?”

Cabello did NOT turn her chair around for Howe given that he sounded TOO similar to her ex.

“I know [Shawn] better than everyone in this room,” she admitted. “The reason I didn’t turn around is that maybe you sounded a little too much like him?”

The former Fifth Harmony member suggested Howe work to “distinguish” himself from Mendes, to which he admitted he’d like to be in the singer’s lane when it comes to his career.

“I was in his lane … deeply,” she shot back.

This comment created some tension and John Legend asked Cabello if she was “trying to make it as awkward as possible” for everyone.

Following their breakup, Mendes canceled his world tour due to his mental health.

“It has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger,” he wrote on Instagram. “I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North American, and the UK / Europe. We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much-needed time off, but at this time I have to put my health as my first priority.”

Cabello on the other hand has gotten back in the dating pool.

This summer she was connected to dating app CEO Austin Kevitch. He is the creator of the Jewish dating app, which is very similar to Raya.

Kevitch and Camila first sparked dating rumors in June and The Blast has exclusive details about their budding romance.

Our sources saw the new couple at the afterparty following the “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” season three red carpet and screening on July 27.

The party was held on the Disney Studios lot in Burbank, CA.

Our source revealed that Camila arrived with him and really kept a low profile.

“Not even kids that were there initially spotted her, she was really dressed down,” our insider explained. “She actually looked like a soccer mom.”

Being the sweetheart that she is, Cabello did end up taking “like one picture with a fan,” but for the most part she was walking around with her man and there was definitely PDA.

The Blast’s source described Kevitch and Cabello’s PDA as “heavy touching, hand on her back, holding hands and being close.”

The rumored new couple did sneak in a kiss, but there was not making out.
