'Sister Wives' Christine Brown Said Wedding Rings Felt Like 'Noose' Months Before Split From Kody Brown

Christine Brown discussed removing her wedding rings amid her issues with her estranged husband, Kody Brown, in "Sister Wives" Season 17. The mother of six claimed that the rings felt like a "noose" and that taking them off gave her comfort.

The revelation came ahead of her 27th marriage anniversary to Kody in 2021. The reality star revealed at the time that she had no plans to commemorate the occasion on social media. In November 2021, the couple officially broke up.

Christine is currently single and has stated that she is not interested in becoming involved in another polygamous marriage like her first one.

In the latest episode of the 17th season of TLC's "Sister Wives" that aired on Sunday, Christine was seen discussing her previous marriage to ex-husband Kody. Per Insider, the reality star described her wedding rings as a "noose" and that she no longer "consider myself married to [Kody] anymore at all."

"I mean, I don't wear our wedding rings anymore most of the time," Christine said, "I just feel like they're a noose, to be honest with you," before adding that it felt t felt "so good" to take them off.

The reality star's statements were taken in self-filmed video confessionals ahead of her 27th wedding anniversary with Kody in March. The pair had fallen out deeply at the time due to several internal issues in their polygamous relationship that had spanned several years.

Regarding whether there was a need to mark the anniversary milestone, Christine shared that she won't "pretend" her relationship with Kody was not strained, implying that she had no plans to post any mushy stuff on social media.

While Christine's statement suggests that there had been a significant, irreparable rift for a long time, Kody said in his own confessional statement that he was unaware of its severity until Christine disclosed she had no plans to post anything for their anniversary.

He said in the video that his request to Christine to post on social media to honor their anniversary was a "test" to check if she would "protect our kids." The polygamous father added that he would continue testing her, hoping she would realize leaving the marriage was not worth it.

"You never know when she's just going to realize that the life she's looking to create somewhere else isn't going to be any better than what she's had or got," he added in the confessional video, which was also taken before their split.

Later in 2021, Christine and Kody's marriage will come to an end. The female half of the duo took to Instagram to share their decision in an emotional post.

It read; "After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart, and I have made the difficult decision to leave. We will continue to be a strong presence in each other's lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.

Over the course of their marriage, Christine and Kody welcomed six children: a son named Paedon and five daughters named Aspyn, Mykelti, Gwendlyn, and Truly. Christine was the third wife in Kody's polygamous household and was never legally married to him, eschewing the need for divorce papers to dissolve their union.

Soon after their split, Christine shared in a Cameo video that she felt "much better" about herself and that her life was "simpler" as a divorcee.

Regarding any future romance, the reality star revealed to People last month that she was done with polygamy for good.

"I want a guy who actually loves me and wants to be with me intimately," she said. "I will be a monogamist from here on out."

However, Christine shared that she is waiting for her last daughter, Truly, to come around to the idea.

"I would love to date. Love the idea of the end having a romantic partner. But I talked to Truly about it the other day, and she's like, 'Mom, I really like our life how it is now.' Down the road. I'm just going to let fate take care of that one," she said.
