John Mayer Responds to Ex-Girlfriend Katy Perry's Public Pregnancy Announcement

Singer John Mayer seems to be keeping his chin up in the wake of an announcement by ex-girlfriend Katy Perry that she is expecting a child with actor Orlando Bloom.

A source cited by Us Weekly who claims to be close to the crooner said, “John is happy for Katy and wishes her the best,” but went on to say that “They don’t keep in touch that much.”

Questions about the reactions of both Bloom and Perry’s exes have been making headlines in the wake of Perry’s announcement.

The “Waiting on the World to Change” singer, who is 42 , and the American Idol judge, who is 35, had an on again off again relationship for about three years between 2012 and 2015.

Perry then moved on to the Pirates of the Caribbean star, who is 43, early in 2016, which was long thought to be what prompted Mayer’s song “Still Feel Like Your Man.”

“Who else would I be thinking about?” he told The New York Times in 2017 according to Us Weekly. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”

Perry’s recently released song, “Never Worn White” made headlines when she showed off her baby bump in a lilting love song to now-fiancé Orlando.

The Instagram premiere of Perry’s music video included the comment “Let’s just say it’s gonna be a jam-packed summer...”

According to Entertainment Tonight, the singer and actress, who have been dating for about three years, expect their little bundle of joy to make their arrival sometime in the summer of 2020. While the pair haven’t yet announced the gender of the baby, the excitement is palpable.

“Let’s call it a reveal,” Perry said of “probably the longest secret I ever had to keep,” according to ET.

The publication noted that Perry said the new album is also expected in the coming months as a second dose of excitement for her fans. “I’m excited, we’re excited and we’re happy.”

The 35-year-old singer is in her second trimester and many fans think she might have hinted what she’s having when she said she “hoped” it would be a girl during an event in Melbourne Australia.

Perry, along with fellow hosts Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan announced in a video that American Idol was getting a “fourth judge” in the form of Perry’s recently announced unborn baby.

“I think it’s the perfect addition to this panel,” said Bryan, when beginning the announcement. He then gave the floor to Perry saying that the news “should come from Katy.”

“We’re having a baby,” said Perry, as she proudly displayed her baby bump for all to see.

Richie exclaimed, “This is so exciting!” and Bryan teased Perry about the size of her dressing room. Bryan went on to promise that, “You will have the outdoors dialed in and the Gucci shoes,” in reference to Richie’s promise to do the shopping while Bryan took care of fishing tackle.
