Singer Ed Sheeran is trying to catch 'em all in his new hit song!

The "Shape Of You" singer really loves Pokémon so much that he created his very own song dedicated to the popular franchise.

His new song, “Celestial,” and its accompanying video, will be released on Thursday, September 29.

Ed Sheeran Reveals He STILL Plays Pokémon On His Game Boy Color!

In an Instagram post, the “Perfect” singer shared a sketch of his torso with a Pikachu sitting on his shoulder to promote his new single. In the caption, the 31-year-old singer talked about his love of Pokémon that has endured throughout decades.

“I started off with Pokémon cards when the craze hit primary school when I was about 7, then the tv show was on tv so I used to try and record it over the same VHS every week,” he explained. “After this me and my brother shared a game boy and Pokémon blue. I got a game boy colour with Pokémon yellow for my 8th birthday, obsessed was an understatement.”

“Flash forward to me at 31 I still have the same game boy colour and still I play Pokémon silver on long haul flights,” he revealed, perhaps hinting at how he spends his downtime on his latest tour.

Ed Sheeran Shares A Short Teaser To Promote His Latest Single

“I really really love it. It gave me a proper escape as a kid into a fantasy world that seemed to go on and on, and in adult life it’s nostalgia that makes me feel like a kid again,” he continued. “I met the people from Pokémon when I was travelling in Japan, and we joked about me writing a song for them.”

“But now here we are. Celestial comes out next Thursday, and the video is insanely amazing, animated by the incredible people at Pokémon,” he added. “I love it, you’re gonna love it. And we all gotta catch ‘em all.”

In a follow-up Instagram post, he shared a short teaser video to give fans a hint as to what they can expect from the music video for his new song. “Thrilled to premiere my new video ‘Celestial’ with @pokemon this Thursday 29th September at 4 PM BST/8 AM PT,” he wrote in the caption of the post. “Can’t wait for you all to see it x.”

Plenty of fans took to the comments to share their excitement, including one fan who wrote, “Are you joking ?? This video will be the best thing ever ??? I can't wait for this ?.”

This Isn't The First Time That The 'Bad Habits' Singer Has Shared His Love For Pokémon!

Back in December, the British singer-songwriter previously collaborated with the Pokémon GO mobile app for a special collaboration in the game. In a press release put out by Niantic, Sheeran recorded a special performance that was only available in the game from Monday, November 22, through Tuesday, November 30.

The performance featured some of Sheeran’s most popular hits, along with songs from Sheeran’s new album “=”. The performance included “Perfect,” “Bad Habits,” “Overpass Graffiti,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “First Times,” and “Shivers.”

Niantic also revealed that Sheeran always choose a Water-type Pokémon as his starter Pokémon, which led to a special event that featured all of the Water-type first-partner starters available in the game for a limited time.

Is Squirtle His Favorite Pokémon?

To celebrate his love for Water-starters, and more specifically Squirtle, he teased a temporary tattoo of the Pokémon on his arm in order to promote his new song in another Instagram post.

However, in another Instagram video, Sheeran described himself as “Kind of a mix between Charmander and Jigglypuff” in a short clip that showed him lying in the middle of a pile of plush toys, including a Charizard, a Bulbasaur, a Lapras, and other familiar faces.

His new song, “Celestial,” and music video, will be available on Thursday, September 29.
