“Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” just hit Netflix on September 21, 2022 and is already at the #1 spot on the streaming giant. Evan Peters has been receiving Emmy-award buzz for his performance as the notorious serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, with some saying his acting was so good, they couldn’t watch the show because of how sick they felt.

Now that the nation is once again discussing Jeffrey Dahmer, Christopher Scarver's name -- an inmate who fatally killed Dahmer while in prison -- is trending, along with an interview with the inmate from 2015 on why he killed Dahmer.

Jeffrey Dahmer was convicted on 15 of the 16 murders he had committed and was sentenced to 15 terms of life imprisonment on February 17, 1992.

While in prison, Dahmer was beaten to death by another inmate, Christopher Scarver, in 1994. 20 years later, in 2015, the inmate spoke out for the first time on why he murdered the notorious serial killer. That interview is once again making its rounds on the internet as Netflix's “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is the number one show on the streaming service.

The NY Post shared the article to Instagram yesterday, writing, "EXCLUSIVE: 'He crossed the line.' Serial killer #JeffreyDahmer was done in by his sickening lust for human flesh, the man who whacked him in prison told The Post."

Scarver, 45, said he grew to despise Dahmer over the years spent in prison because Dahmer would pretend that his prison food was severed limbs to taunt the other inmates. He would also take ketchup packets and drizzle it on the food to mimic blood.

“He would put them in places where people would be,” Scarver told NY Post in 2015. “He crossed the line with some people — prisoners, prison staff. Some people who are in prison are repentant — but he was not one of them.”

Scarver and Dahmer both arrived at Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Institution around the same time in 1992, and he said that he knew right away he needed to keep a distance. “I saw heated interactions between [Dahmer] and other prisoners from time to time,” Scarver said. And although he knew to keep a distance, he never had an impression of him.

Scarver watched Dahmer from afar, and after a while, he knew he had to get rid of Dahmer.

On November 28, 1994, Scarver, Dahmer, and a third inmate, Jesse Anderson, were left alone in the bathrooms, unshackled as they cleaned and completed their prison work assignment.

Scarver, the then 25-year-old, was grabbing his mop and was filling a bucket with water when he says someone poked him in the back.

“I turned around, and [Dahmer] and Jesse were kind of laughing under their breath,” Scarver said. “I looked right into their eyes, and I couldn’t tell which had done it.”

Afterward, the three men split up, which is when Scarver decided to follow Dahmer toward a staff locker room and confront him about what Dahmer did to end up in jail. Scarver pulled out a newspaper clipping he kept with him, which detailed Dahmer's crimes and victims, and grabbed a metal bar from the weight room.

“I asked him if he did those things ’cause I was fiercely disgusted. He was shocked. Yes, he was,” Scarver said. “He started looking for the door pretty quick. I blocked him."

“He ended up dead. I put his head down,” he continued.

Scarver believes that it was not a coincidence that he ended up alone with Dahmer that day. He recalls that the prison officials knew he hated Dahmer, and they also wanted him dead.

“They had something to do with what took place. Yes,” Scarver said, however, he did not want to elaborate any further.

“I would need a good attorney to ensure there would not be any retaliation by Wisconsin officials or to get me out of any type of retaliatory position they would put me in,” he explained.

Scarver has not spoken out since the 2015 interview.
