Kelly Ripa is keeping careful as the deadly Coronavirus continues to sweep the globe. COVID-19 currently has 114,072 worldwide cases, with the global death toll sitting at 4,004. The U.S. stats for the virus that originated in China are also shooting up – at least 616 cases and 22 deaths were confirmed by CNN on Monday.
The Ripa keeps going, though. Kelly, 49, appeared on the “Live!” With Kelly and Ryan” show’s Instagram ahead of its Monday airing, and she’d been extra careful, even going slightly “Grey’s Anatomy” with her behavior.
Kelly has already mentioned COVID-19 on her social media. The blonde recently updated her Instagram stories with a humorous (but helpful) message reminding the public to wash their hands.
“WASH YOUR F*CKING HANDS” scrawled in black writing on a white towel appearing to hang from a wooden rail was shared by Kelly two days ago. Experts are, of course, encouraging the public to wash their hands for 20 seconds, alongside coughing into tissues (and trashing them after use).
The video showed Kelly with one very clean pair of hands – and she wasn’t going to let them touch anything.
The video kicked off with the usual – a pumped feel was seen as dancers showed off their moves on the “Live!” set, with footage then shifting to Kelly and co-host Ryan Seacrest making their way through a backstage area as they headed onto the stage.
Kelly was looking her usual sensational self, rocking a bright blue shirt and matching patterned skirt courtesy of Proenza Schouler (up top) and Christopher Kane (down below).
It was all about the hands, though. Kelly had hers up in the air with Ryan eventually joining her. The pint-sized star waved her fingers around, announcing that she’d “scrubbed in.”
Comments came in fast for the video, with many fans mentioning the virus.
“It takes 00:20 – sec., for suds to kill a virus. ?,” one user wrote.
“The reason sick people in the hospital get stuck on your channel is because of nurses like me who put it on while we do AM care with the patients? I just love the positive energy you guys have. I feel likes it’s way more uplifting than anything else on tv!,” another said.
“Love this!” a third added.
Business-savvy celebs are called business-savvy for a reason. Scott Disick made headlines this weekend as his Talentless clothing line launched Coronavirus merch – hoodies with “PLEASE WASH YOUR HANDS” on them retail for up to $129. The 36-year-old ex to Kourtney Kardashian promoted the merch over on his Instagram, with the company’s social media showing 24-year-old Kendall Jenner and her “momager” Kris Jenner walking outdoors in the gear.
Meanwhile, celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow and Billie Eilish have been spotted wearing face masks.
