Ricci's Baby Is Sleep-Trained, But Her 8-Year-Old Still Wants To Sleep With Mom

While Ricci's 9-month-old daughter Cleopatra with husband Mark Hampton is sleep-trained, her 8-year-old son Freddie, who she shares with ex James Heerdegen, is still co-sleeping with her. "The fact that I can put her down in her crib and she just goes to sleep when my 8-year-old still sleeping with me is amazing," she said.

When she tried to sleep-train her son when he was younger, Ricci explained that she had to change her approach quickly. "He screamed himself hoarse and started banging his head against the crib railing," she explained. "But with Cleo, when we decided to try and see how she would react to it, she just sort of whined for about seven minutes and then laid down, clutched her little unicorn and went to sleep. It was like she was ready and she wanted to do it, and it was right for her."

Ricci Isn't The Only Celebrity Mom To Open Up About Co-Sleeping

Ricci isn't the only celebrity mom to admit that co-sleeping is the norm for her family. The Blast reported in July that Alicia Silverstone opened up about still co-sleeping with her 11-year-old son Bear. The "Clueless" star discussed it on "The Ellen Fisher Podcast" in July saying, "Bear and I still sleep together. I'll be in trouble for saying that but I don't really care." Silverstone, 45, explained why she feels co-sleeping should be a normal occurrence. "If you were in any kind of wild setting where there are animals...if you put your baby over there your baby is going to get eaten. It's not ideal for the baby to be over there."

Over time, other celebrities have also revealed that co-sleeping with their kids is a normal practice in their homes. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell revealed they share their bedroom with their kids earlier this year, and last year, Tori Spelling said four of her five kids were still sleeping in her bed.

Freddie Helps Out With His Big-Brother Duties

The "Yellowjackets" actress said that her son is "really helpful" with the baby and has big-brother duties that help her out. Ricci pays Freddie to watch baby Cleo "for 20 minutes at a time in her little playpen" so she can get things done around the house. "He can help me make a bottle. He can help me in the bathtub with her. It is really great," she explained. "There hasn't been a lot of sibling jealousy or anything. That has been a huge relief."

Ricci Was Presented With A "Best Mom" Banner After The Emmys

Earlier this month, Ricci's kids presented her with a "Best Mom" banner after the Emmy Awards. She said Freddie "was really excited" about seeing her on TV. "He didn't know whether I won or lost, but he was just like, 'Mom, I saw you and [Ricci's husband Mark Hampton] on TV,'" she said. "'You were laughing about something. Someone made a joke and then they cut to you and you were right there and you were laughing. i saw Mark.' This is the first time I've ever seen him really excited about anything in my career, so that was super fun because he stayed up with our nanny and watched parts of the Emmys."
