Colin Jost's Mom Won't Stop 'Suggesting' New Names For His Son With Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson’s mother-in-law just wants her grandbaby to have a normal name. Which is why she keeps trying to change his unique name.

Jost and Johansson share a son name, Cosmo. We know nothing about the baby besides the fact that he is alive and well and that is how the actress and her writer baby daddy plan on keeping it. That being said, the name Cosmo isn’t sitting well with Jost’s mom.

She was begging the couple to not name their son Cosmo before he was born and now that he is here… she’s still doing it. “I just thought it was charming and then our friends all liked it and then Colin's mom had a little bit of a harder time with it,” she shared on the Kelly Clarkson Show this week.

Johansson shared that her MIL is just weary of how the name will fare in the long run.

“It wasn't sitting [right] she kept suggesting other versions of it for a while and I was like 'no he's already like here. He's out, it's past that time.’”

We can only imagine the laughter that broke out in that house every time Colin’s mom suggested a new name.

Johansson wasn’t specific about what her mom-in-law didn’t like about the name but we assume it is because it is unconventional. Truthfully, she should have expected it, unconventional names are so on trend at this point. Trisha Paytas just name her daughter Malibu Barbie, so mama Jost should really be praising the actress.

The Black Widow actress would doesn’t care she loves the name and Clarkson agrees. “I love that though, because your daughter is Rose,” she points out. “I love that they’re both flowers! My kids hate plants and how much I love them… but I love flowers and plants and I thought that was kind of cool!”

Johansson beamed when someone else besides her realized that Cosmo wasn’t pulled put of thin air and it’s actually something with meaning. “Not a lot of people make that connection, Cosmo is like a really sweet little flower [that] comes in different shades of orange and yellow and stuff like that. That's why my daughter liked it too.”

The couple met in 2006 when she hosted Saturday Night Live and became friends but both were in relationships. She appeared on the show again in 2017 and that’s when things took off. By May 2019, they were engaged and they got married by October 2020.

All of a sudden Cosmo was born one day and the couple shared the news bit only after speculation was getting out of control. "Ok ok we had a baby, wrote Jost in a short and sweet Instagram post. “His name is Cosmo. We love him very much. Privacy would be greatly appreciated.”

That is the most that the couple has shared about their son since… probably this new interview. Boy they weren’t kidding when they said they wanted privacy.
