Sure we can count on Rihanna to always have love on the brain. The question on everyone's mind this morning, however, seems to be whether Rihanna could be thinking about the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Social media has been abuzz this week over which popular culture figure could be landing the highly coveted position of the NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show performer!

Earlier this week, Taylor Swift fans flocked to Twitter in the wake of the announcement Apple Music had signed with the NFL for a multi-year sponsorship deal, according to our report about Swift possibly headlining the performance published on Friday. The announcement had been made at midnight, which 'Swifties' are extremely familiar with lately! Swift's upcoming album is called "Midnights."

Another highly-esteemed pop star could be in the running to entertain football fans this winter!

Earlier this morning, TMZ revealed Rihanna is reportedly having a discussion with the NFL and Roc Nation about headling the Halftime performance.

The outlet went on to report "Sources with direct knowledge" spoke to TMZ, telling them, "There have been multiple discussions with Rihanna and her team," and went on to say, "we don't know if she's a firm go, but [their] sources say the NFL may reveal who they've locked up as early as Sunday afternoon via tweet."

TMZ went on to reveal they had also been told "there have also been discussions with another performer, but it's not either/or- in other words, there would be two performers on stage" a la Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in 2020.

If Rihanna were to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, it would be the first major network performance the singer has done since giving birth to her first child with A$AP Rocky, earlier this Spring.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed a son in May.

The couple understandably kept their lives under wraps during the first few months of parenthood. According to one of our reports, the couple had been spotted together in London over the fourth of July weekend.

A$AP Rocky had been scheduled to perform at a music festival in London at the time.

RiRi accompanied her man to the festival and watched him perform. She was spotted with her security guards in the crowd, as she attempted to find the perfect spot to watch A$AP perform.

Fans on Twitter who had spotted RiRi in the crowd had plenty of glowing praise for the new mama.

One fan praised Rihanna for her post-birth looks, and tweeted, "Rihanna looks amazing after giving birth."

The couple's then two-month-old son was not seen with his parents at any point in time during the trip, so it was unclear whether Rihanna and A$AP Rocky had brought him overseas for his dad's performance at the Wireless Festival at Crystal Palace Park. Before heading to the venue, the couple was also spotted together while A$AP Rocky got in a pre-show haircut at a barber shop.

Only time will tell if Rihanna could be making a major appearance on stage at one of popular culture's biggest moments of the year!

UPDATE: Time did certainly do the trick! Rihanna has just posted a photo on her Instagram of a football with the NFL logo, seemingly confirming her performance! The Hollywood Reporter also tweeted she "had been tapped" to headline the Halftime show.

“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment,” Jay-Z said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage,” Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music, added in his own statement. “Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”
