Author and actress Jenny Mollen was inspired to tell her miscarriage story and credits Chrissy Teigen and Busy Philips for inspiring her to speak up and tell her story.
In a series of Instagram Story slides, as well as in a post, Mollen, 43, opened up about two miscarriages during her relationship with her husband, actor Jason Biggs. On the first slide, a photo of a positive pregnancy test was captioned, "When @chrissyteigen posted about having a miscarriage and receiving abortion care, I had to stop and think. Jason and I have experienced two miscarriages over the course of our relationship. The first was at the beginning of our relationship and the second was during the pandemic. Both times I needed a D&C [dilation and curettage] and received abortion care and both times I was so grateful to live in a country where that was possible."
Mollen Was Inspired To Not Stay Silent And Tell Her Story
Her next Instagram Story slide explained how Teigen and Philips inspired her to speak up. "I didn't want this to happen. But thank god, I was in such capable hands when it did. I stand w @chrissyteigen and all the other brave women who are helping to drive awareness of this critical issue. Thank u also to @busyphilips for educating me time and again on why we must not be silent. Abortion rights affect all of us."
Teigen, 36, recently shared her miscarriage story. "Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John, and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn't either without any medical intervention," Teigen explained while speaking at Propper Daley's "A Day of Unreasonable Conversation" summit. She continued by saying, "Let's just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago."
Her third slide further explained the importance of understanding that abortions are lifesaving medical procedures and the strain that abortion bans put on women. "It is important to understand that when we say abortions are medical procedures, that save lives and are vital- this is part of what we're talking about. Women in the states with these extreme Abortion bans are UNABLE to receive this care, often being forced to travel hours in pain and grief to other states. It's unconscionable that politicians who don't understand how our bodies function are putting laws in place to control them"
Mollen And Biggs Have Been Married 14 Years And Share Two Sons
Mollen and husband Biggs, 44, recently celebrated their 14-year wedding anniversary. They share sons Sid, 8, and Lazlo, 4. The two have discussed the possibility of having a third child with PEOPLE in 2020, but there was one condition. "I mean, if [Jason] could carry it, totally," Mollen said. "Or if somebody could present me with a 2-year-old that looked just like me."
Biggs told PEOPLE a few months prior to that interview, "If you just handed me a baby girl right now, I'd be like, 'Great, I'll keep her.' I'd walk away with it and be like, 'This wasn't anyone's, right? Okay, cool, I can take it home? Perfect, done.'" He continued by explaining, "Jenny did not have great pregnancies, so she's not keen on [the] idea [of another pregnancy]. If you could just hand us a little baby girl, we'd be like, 'Awesome!'"
