Since his fame-building appearance on Blue Collar Comedy Tour alongside comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and the legendary Ron White in 2003, Larry the Cable Guy has put his "dad bod" on display in the big leagues. The comedian is known for his trucker hat, flannel shirts, and over-the-top redneck persona, not to forget his unforgettable catchphrase.

Since Larry the Cable Guy has been in the public light, he's also been on a weight loss journey, but the comedian hasn't quite been able to "git-r-done."

In an impressive feat of weight loss, Larry the Cable Guy managed to drop 50 pounds back in 2008, claiming to be "down an Olsen." Larry told People that he celebrated the occasion, saying:

"I immediately took my wife out to eat and had everything I’m not supposed to."

Larry says the heaviest he's ever weighed is 282 lbs, and he blames that on his wife. He says in the People interview:

"She’d crave a double cheeseburger, order two bites of it and then I’d eat the rest. I couldn’t let it go to waste!"

Unfortunately, the weight didn't stay off. Larry went from his lightest in 2008 at 225 lbs back to 275 lbs, bringing him close to matching his heaviest weight yet. Larry admits that weight loss isn't an easy thing to accomplish and talks about it in a 2011 interview, saying:

"I need to cut out sugar, not eat late at night, and do some cardio. I get what needs to be done, but it’s hard work."

" I always joke that my wife gets me a trainer and I lose 50 pounds by trying to run away from him."

Larry admitted during an interview with In Depth with Graham Bensinger that his problem isn't exercise. He says:

"Believe it or not, I work out constantly. I just eat a lot. I really do. I do two and a half hours of cardio a day."

He goes on to talk about his weight fluctuations in the winter:

"I can lose weight; I know how to lose weight — drink a lot of water, don't eat sugar, don't eat late, and I'll lose weight. But in the wintertime, I always put on 40 pounds, 50 pounds. In summertime, I always take off 40 pounds, 50 pounds."

Back to Larry's weight loss in 2008. Part of his success was due to using the Nutrisystem diet, believe it or not. Further, he didn't just use the diet, Larry was actually a spokesperson for Nutrisystem at one point.

On the Nutrisystem success page, Larry says he "went from refrigerator magnet to chick magnet!"

Though the loss didn't stick, Larry has been back and forth on his journey. In 2018, he shared a tweet cataloging his recent weight loss, and we're sure there'll be more to come. Keep at it, Larry, and "git-r-done!"
