Russell Brand Gets Asked About Katy Perry Marriage During Show

Musician Katy Perry and comedian Russell Brand had a bit of a whirlwind romance after meeting at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Just three short months later, Brand proposed to Perry. The two wed in October 2010, but quickly announced their separation 14 months later. Their divorce was finalized in 2012 and they went their separate ways. In a recent live comedy show, Brand was taking questions from the audience when one person asked him about love, and another person shouted Katy's name.

People had reported that the comedian introduced himself by referencing his former spouse while he was opening his show as an icebreaker for those who were not familiar with his comedy work. A source for People said, "He was taking questions from the audience, and someone asked him about love, Then, another person called out Katy’s name and Russell said she is a ‘lovely human being’ but wouldn’t say more." He remained very tight-lipped after speaking about his former wife.

Perry is releasing a new single tonight titled "Never Worn White," about the pairs marriage ceremony in India. Instead of a traditional white wedding dress, Perry wore a gray Elie Saab Haute Couture dress. Some of the lyrics to the song include, "But I’m scared / Cause I’ve never worn white / But I wanna get it right / Yeah I really wanna try with you / No I’ve never worn white." Reportedly, she is set to marry Orlando Bloom in April.

Perry spoke about love and marriage last February. She said, "I’m very pragmatic and logistical and I am less fantastical about things. I mean, I was married when I was 25. I’m 34. It was almost 10 years ago. I was like, ‘One person for the rest of my life,’ and I’m not so sure that that idea is for me. I’m just such a different person than I was." However, now it looks like she is ready to settle down with Bloom.

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry are set to wed sometime in April, according to Us magazine. They had originally set their wedding for December of 2019, but had a problem with the location. A source says, "Katy and Orlando’s wedding is in April. They’re beyond in love." They also went on to say, "They’re going to have one local wedding party, and the other will be a destination wedding party." Katy is thinking babies, too! The source also said, "Katy wants to have her first kid soon after they get married."

Brand married Laura Gallacher in 2017. They had known each other since 2007. She is a lifestyle blogger, and now mom to their daughter, Mabel. In an Us Magazine interview from 2017 when reflecting on his marriage to Perry, he doesn't harbor any ill will towards her. In fact, he says, "Obviously the marriage didn’t last for a very long time, and I think that is to do with the undulated nature of fame and that living in those conditions and what was happening. I have come away from that experience feeling — I still feel very warm towards her."
