"Love Is Blind" star Deepti Vempati understood that the ultimate path to her personal happiness could only begin if she decided to make an extremely personal choice.
After rising to fame during season two of Netflix's reality TV series where she had to endure the dissolution of her relationship with fiancé Abishek 'Shake' Chatterjee, Vempati learned a valuable lesson in waiting for true love and prioritizing herself after Chatterjee repeatedly referenced her physical appearance and frequently compared being intimate with her to being intimate with a family member.
Vempati made a vital decision concerning her future when she declared 'I don't' to a future with Chatterjee. Instead of walking down the aisle to an indecisive fiancé, she vowed to choose herself and live her life continuously prioritizing her self-worth!
In the months since the second season finale was released on Netflix, the 31-year-old has candidly told her story and opened up about her personal experience multiple times.
On September 15th, Vempati opened up about her journey at the Step Up Together Digital Summit while speaking on a panel dedicated to how damaging the concept of obtaining perfection can be. The panel was titled "The Damaging Concept of Perfection."

"Love Is Blind" fans know Vempati was confronted with many negative aspects regarding an idealized version of perfection courtesy of her ex.
During the former couple's pod-based courtship, Chatterjee repeatedly made comments about Vempati's physical appearance. During one particular conversation, Chatterjee asked her if she "liked being on a guy's shoulders" while attending music festivals.
After she playfully replied "Are you up for the challenge? Can you pick me up?" Chatterjee asked her if he would "have trouble" doing so.
Vempati was visibly confused by his question.
The duo had also discussed Chatterjee's inability to feel "an intense physical connection" with her.
Instead of succumbing to sadness or self-doubt, Vempati made the decision to dedicate her post-show platform to make sure others wouldn't do the same, and could perhaps feel less alone if they identified with her story.
Vempati would later turn her experiences into a book. "I Choose Myself" delved deeper into the lessons she learned in choosing vulnerability. In our report announcing the release of Vempati's memoir, we also detailed her vulnerable social media posts about choosing to embrace vulnerability.

Vempati elaborated and offered further insight into what choosing herself meant for her when she spoke on her panel, "The Damaging Concept of Perfection."
"Choosing myself really means pouring the same amount of love and energy in to others so freely, to give that back to myself," she began. "It's just to create a happy and positive environment in my head so that my daily habits and my behaviors align to those thoughts," she continued. "It does take a conscious effort to continue to do that, but I have started to realize that when you do this, you kind of operate at a higher vibrational frequency, and it just attracts the right type of things and people into your life. It helps you make the right decisions too, so it kind of gives you some clarity," Vempati concluded.
Vempati's comments are especially timely and poignant.
Shortly after the premiere of "Love Is Blind: After The Altar" reunion episodes which confirmed her romance with co-star Kyle Abrams, news broke the pair had officially split over the summer.
According to our report, Abrams confirmed the split on Instagram.
