Meghan Markle has never been very popular with the British press and a certain faction of the public in general. But now that she and Prince Harry have decided to step down as senior members of the royal family, things have only gotten worse for the Duchess of Sussex.
People around the world were quick to choose a side after the exit was announced. They either supported or opposed the move, and critics often accused Meghan of being the mastermind. Now a senior royal advisor is doing the same.
Most of the criticism that was hurled at Duchess Meghan after the Sussex exit insinuated she only married into the royal family to boost her recognition. They claimed she was now leaving so she could renew her career as an actor in Hollywood, bolstering her paycheck with the fame of being married to a prince.
Some sources have indicated Meghan might be interested in working in the industry again, but in a different manner as before. Reports say Prince Harry himself supports her creative endeavors and has suggested she work as a director and voice actor.
Neal Sean claims sources are pointing at Duchess Meghan as the brain behind the exit. The claim is that she is making all the decisions, including firing her and Harry’s UK-based staff after they moved to Canada. Sean says sources indicated some staff members offered to move to Canada with the Sussexes because they liked working for Harry.
According to these rumors, Meghan was supposedly emboldened by the royals’ sense of propriety — the assumption being they wouldn’t criticize publicly. Sean claims an advisor describes Meghan’s movements as playing a “dangerous game” that will backfire eventually.
Prince Harry doesn’t buy into the narrative that his wife is running the show and he’s just sitting idly by. He has been very adamant that he made this decision in order to protect his family. The Duke of Sussex has largely blamed the British media for the decision.
During a recent speech, Harry said he felt he had “no other option” but to leave because of the way his wife was constantly treated in the press. He admitted to attending therapy to deal with the loss of his mother, Princess Diana, at a young age. Diana reportedly died in a car crash while attempting to escape paparazzi.
It isn’t as though Prince Harry doesn’t have plenty of evidence to back up his claims, either. Duchess Meghan was often criticized by the media who questioned silly things like touching her pregnant stomach and eating avocados. Kate Middleton was often admired in the press for performing the exact same actions.
Harry and Meghan are very serious about protecting themselves and their son, Archie Harrison. They have already warned paparazzi to steer clear of them in Canada, citing reckless driving and stalking their home as reasons for a cease and desist letter.
