Last night, the dramatic season of "The Bachelorette" finally came to an end. Although Rachel Recchia didn't get her happy ending, Erich Schwer got down on one knee and proposed to Gabby Windey, who are still together and are working things out.
One of those complications includes Schwer's ex-girlfriend leaking text messages, exposing what kind of man she claims he is. Last night, the 29-year-old real estate agent addressed those text messages, taking responsibility in saying he handled things with his ex-girlfriiend wrong.
Now, that ex-girlfriend is speaking out, calling Schwer's explanation "bulls**t".
Erich Schwer’s Ex, Amanda Kayler, Speaks Out
The leaked text messages show Erich Schwer asking his ex-girlfriend to wait for him until he got back as he wanted to do the show for new career opportunities. And more recently, Schwer texted Kayler in July, to which he said “I am so sorry Amanda, what I did was terrible, I don’t expect you to ever forgive me. I just want you to know I think about you all the time and you really deserve the best. I won’t ever forgive myself I hope find happiness and everything you deserve.”
Although Schwer apologized for the way things went down with Kayler, she isn't buying it. “He sent me two dozen roses two weeks after I ended things because I didn’t wanna stay with him while he went on the show. … With a note saying, ‘I’ll never stop thinking about you,’” Kayler told US Weekly on Tuesday, September 20, after the live "Bachelorette" finale aired. “[His comments on the finale are] such bulls**t but wish them the best. She will learn.”
Why Did Amanda Kayler Leak the Texts?
The timing of the leaked text messages came to a surprise to some, but Kayler explains why she did it when she did -- and it all boils down to the lies and deception. “Just the lack of honesty when it came from him," she explained. "I feel like [going on The Bachelorette] was something that he, maybe, had in his mind longer than … obviously, I found out right before.”
Kayler went on to explain how serious she though their relationship, even going as far as saying Schwer met her son. “He let me introduce him to him the week leading up to that and then in my head, that's kind of messed up to do knowing that [The Bachelorette is] a potential option and I don't believe that he just got the news March 10 because they're filming two weeks later. ... I was just blindsided and hurt,” she continued.
Gabby Windey's Outtake On Her Relationship
On the "Bachelorette" finale, Schwer was asked about those leaked text messages live on stage, with Gabby Windey sitting right next to him. Windey did admit she knew about the texts before they were leaked, and told her fiancé to just tell her the truth and prepare himself for the "After the Final Rose" show.
When asked about the texts, Schwer explained, “I met this girl about a month before it started and I had no idea I was going to come here. Ultimately, I realized that there was not a connection long-term, and it was about the same time the show reached out,” Erich claimed to the host with Gabby by his side. “I handled it poorly, 100 percent. I led her on and I want to own that.”
He took full responsibility, going on to say, “I kind of took the easy way out in a sense. I didn’t want to have the hard conversation. … It’s a mistake that I made on my part.”
