Beyoncé is being accused of fraud by the wedding planner battling her over the name “Blue Ivy”, who is also bringing up the Illuminati rumors.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Veronica Morales is back in court fighting the singer in their two-year trademark battle over the rights to “Blue Ivy.”
The singer tried to obtain the trademark for her daughter’s name, but Morales argued she already was using it for her company. The case is headed to trial.
Recently, Beyoncé laid out her entire argument for being granted the trademark. She said, “Blue Ivy Carter is a cultural icon who has been described as a “mini style star” and has been celebrated for her “fashion moments” over the years. Her life and activities are followed extensively by the media and the public.”
Morales fired back at the “cultural icon” statement saying, “With all due respect, Blue Ivy Carter definitely is not a cultural icon. That would be someone like Benjamin Franklin, Elvis Presley or Marilyn Monroe. Celebrities need to follow the law like everyone else.”
In newly filed court documents, Morales is asking the Trademark Board to shut down Beyoncé once and for all. She leans on an interview Jay-Z gave to Vanity Fair following Blue Ivy’s birth. He told the magazine they only filed the trademark applications to prevent others from profiting off their daughter and had no plans to use the marks.
Beyoncé has tried to brush off the interview saying Jay-Z’s comments are not relevant to the case. Morales says, “This is untrue, because Mr. Carter has a very close relationship with BGK, being the husband of its manager and sole member, the singer Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, and the father of their daughter Blue Ivy Carter.”
Morales says Beyoncé committed fraud by filing for the trademark without intending to actually use it in the marketplace.
The wedding planner claims she has presented enough evidence of damages. She claims “Blue Ivy’s Facebook page also almost immediately received an increase in fans from the African continent.”
Further, she writes, “Many members of the general public believe the Carter’s are members of the so-called ‘Illuminati’ and the name of their daughter spelled backwards is “Eulb Yvi” which in Latin is translated to ‘Lucifer’s Daughter.” She says this causes a harm to her business and is asking the board to deny Beyoncé’s trademark completely.
Beyoncé addressed the years of conspiracy theorists in her song “Formation.” She said, “Y’all haters corny with that illuminati mess.”
The whole trademark battle started in 2017 when Beyoncé filed to lock down the rights to the trademark “Blue Ivy Carter” to make sure she had the exclusive use of her daughter’s name.
Shortly after, Veronica Morales, the owner of a wedding planning company named Blue Ivy, filed to oppose the singer’s application, demanding the pop star not allowed to trademark the name.
The case is ongoing. Beyoncé has yet to file her brief laying out her entire case for being granted “Blue Ivy.”
