Although the latest lineup of The Voice judges are highly regarded vocalists in their own right, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is a judge who will be sorely missed. The musician was one of the NBC hit's first judges and led several teams to victory over the span of his stint there. His rapport with fellow judge country singer Blake Shelton were also conversations that launched many of the show's more memorable moments.
Last year, Levine announced he was leaving the show after season 16. Due to the immense success of the show, many viewers were left asking why.
Levine has been rather open about the reasons behind his "why" through interviews following his official announcement. Much of his reasonings stemmed from wanting to pour more into his family life with wife model Behati Prinsloo and their two children, Gio Grace and Dusty Rose. His work life has been on go for the past several years and the musician has expressed having a desire to stop and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

He also added, "I’m obsessed with them. I adore them in a way I never thought I could adore another person."
Current The Voice judge Kelly Clarkson, "It’s weird not having Adam, but it is interesting, the dynamics. We’re literally all four different genres."
In a conversation with Howard Stern on his radio show, Levine got even more personal when he disclosed the reason behind his decision. After eight years of The Voice in conjuction with touring, he was burnt out and ready to shift his focus to family.
He said he "was ready to not be doing it for a little bit. The moment I walked away it felt really good. I was beyond fortunate to go through all of it but it got to the point where I got married and had two kids. She’s a great mom, and you’re lucky if you get to fall in love twice."

His The Voice family showed a lot of support towards Levine's choice and have sent waves of love and admiration in various interviews with media. John Legend stated in a red carpet interview, "We’re very sad to see him go. He’s been a part [of The Voice] since it began, 16 seasons, he’s been so important to the show even existing. So, we’re all going to miss him."
OG judge Shelton revealed to ET, "It is weird not having him here but I want him to know that he can still kiss my a**, wherever he is."
Following Levine's departure from the famed reality TV competition, an Emmy voter who shall remain anonymous, told THR that despite how "friendly" Shelton and Levine seemed to act on the series, the reality was it was all just an act. Allegedly, the two "really dislike each other, but play nice on TV."
The voter went on to suggest that it was one of the reasons Levine walked away from the show. "Blake Shelton and Adam Levine hate each other.… [Levine] didn’t walk away — I heard it was a ‘me or him.'"
