*NCIS: New Orleans, part of the NCIS series (which includes NCIS, and NCIS: Los Angeles) has characters that are out of this world when they’re portrayed on-screen. It goes for the entire NCIS* franchise, I mean, come on, one word: DiNozzo.
But, we’re not talking about NCIS, we’re talking about the NCIS that takes place in New Orleans. We’re also not talking about the characters. Let’s talk about the stars, in this piece we’ll be discussing CCH Pounder, Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, and Robert Kerkovich.
So here are some random facts.
Everyone loves Scott Bakula for his memorable roles over the years, and there’s been quite a few of them. He’s been Dr. Sam Beckett in Quantam Leap, as well as Captain Jonathan Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise. And, of course, [Dwayne Cassius Pride)[https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/ncis-new-orleans-producers-reveal-key-characters-upcoming-wild-ride.html/] on NCIS: New Orleans.
Did you know he studied Law at the University of Kansas until his sophmore year? He left an even bigger impression when he posed on the cover of 1995’s Playgirl magazine.
According to IMDb, the inside spread offered “several photos of Scott baring his hairy chest,” in which Bakula revealed, “he would not have a problem doing a nude scene in a movie.”
CCH Pounder not only has three names, fun right? But she is big on art advocacy. Her full name is Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder, and she’s named after loved ones. She portrays Dr. Loretta Wade on NCIS: New Orleans, and does so much more behind the scenes. She has 500+ works of art that she lends to various exhibits across the nation.
“I’m a collector of what I call functional art — you go up and look at a piece, and you have a visceral reaction,” Pounder told Nola.com in 2017. “You can’t explain it. It’s a function that’s very important to me. I’m not interested in just collecting a piece because an artist is important or work is important.”
And, bet you didn’t recognize her, she played Mo’at in Avatar.
Did anyone realize that Vanessa Ferlito, who plays Tammy Gregorio on NCIS: New Orleans is an awards pro? In 2003 she took the role of Lizette Sanchez in the film Undefeated, it was a TV movie, so not on the big screens, but still.
The film followed a boxer, who’s trying to keep his ties to his “normal” life, before going pro, while also trying to navigate and settle into fame. Ferlito earned an NAACP nom. for Outstanding Actress in a TV movie, for her position as Lizette.
Rob Kerkovich, playing Forensics Field Agent Sebastian Lund, is a man of many talents. He loves Star Wars, enjoys filming genre mashups, and is a total jokester. He also took a 30-second Dr. Pepper spot, opposite to Stan Lee, the Marvel Man himself. The ad promoted Iron Man 2.
Wow, to be in the same room as Stan Lee.
Years later, he did a follow-up commercial with Stan Lee to celebrate the release of Thor! Kerkovich said, of Lee via his Instagram: “He was warm and genial and patiently answered every dork question I had.” He added, “You don’t often get to hang with your heroes, but this one lived up to the hype.”
