Did This Former Host of 'The View' Really Date Tupac? She Sets The Rumor Mill Straight

The famous women who host ABC’s “The View” are no strangers to drama and intrigue, some of which happened before their tenure, and followed them onto into their on-air years.

While the majority of the women who make up the famous panel have strong opinions, especially on women’s issues, at least one addressed a story about her rumored relationship with the late rapper Tupac Shakur.

Rosie Perez attended the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards with Tupac, and the pair sent the rumor mill into overdrive.

Perez, who spent the 2014-15 season at “The View” curved table, has been questioned about that evening in the years since her hand-holding red-carpet appearance, despite multiple denials that the pair were in a relationship.

“Everyone thought we were having sex,” Perez told Wendy Williams in 2014 according to Cheat Sheet. “[But] we weren’t.”

Perez went on to explain what happened with the rapper, why they showed up together, why they were holding hands and what impact it had on their lives going forward.

The way Perez told the story she was speaking with the singer immediately after finding out that her date (who she declined to note, because they were someone famous) was going to stand her up 15 mins before time to leave for the award show.

When Tupac called her, she said she was sobbing, and she told him about her change for the evening. The former daytime host said that Tupac heard she was being treated badly and said,

“Forget that motherf*cker, let’s go up there — I’ll be your date. He’s gonna be so jealous.”

Perez also said that when she was on her way to the awards in the limo, she and the singer smoked some marijuana and that she got “so stoned and so scared” when they got to the red carpet.

“Don’t worry — I got you,” she said that Tupac told her, which is why he grabbed her hand and held her close.

The musicians' date then found out later that she was getting dirty looks from the women there because of his relationships with other women:

“I didn’t realize he was sleeping with half the women in the industry!” she told Williams during the interview.

CheatSheet reported that “At some point, Madonna approached Perez and asked if she’d set her (Madonna) up with Tupac. When she mentioned it to Tupac, he said he’d be happy to spend some time with the Material Girl.”

Rosie was finally able to set the two singers up, which was reportedly the beginning of the pair’s notorious affair.

While Perez and Tupac weren’t in a relationship, her comments made it clear that she thought very well of the late rapper.
