Emma Roberts’ portrayal of Madison Montgomery on season three of ‘American Horror Story’ was the true definition of the ultimate television mean girl. Madison’s character was so popular that she quickly became the center of some viral memes and gifs. Madison captivated the audience and provided us with shocking revelations and witty one-liners. The introduction of this character when Roberts first joined the franchise marked the start of her reoccurring and highly praised appearances on several seasons of ‘American Horror Story.’
After taking on the lead role of Brooke Thompson in season nine, fans have been expressing disappointment and shock as it was just announced that Roberts would not be returning for season 10. Roberts has appeared in five seasons of the hit show and has played a lead role in all of them. She is known for captivating the audience, so much so that fans are confused about why she isn’t appearing this season, especially since she emerged as the hero in the season 9 finale and had a lot of people rooting for her.

Also notably absent from the cast announcement is fan-favorite Cody Fern who played villain Michael Langdon in season 8 and spunky Xavier Plympton in season 9 alongside Roberts. Fern also appeared in Ryan Murphy’s other award-winning series ‘American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.’ On the social media cast announcement, fans stated that Fern “carried season 8 on his back,” and were truly upset to see a season without him and hope that he has another big project coming out that prevented him from filming this season.
Returning to the show after taking a brief hiatus are Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson. Paulson has appeared in 8 seasons of the show and is critically acclaimed for being able to portray a broad range of characters, even playing multiple characters in one season. Peters also appeared in 8 previous seasons and appears in Ryan Murphy’s show ‘Pose.’ Peters was a notable scene-stealer in the first season as Tate Langdon, a ghost who is stuck in the Murder House.
Roberts and Peters met on the set of a movie back in 2012 and began to pursue a rocky relationship that consisted of several breakups, accusations of domestic violence, and an engagement that ended in 2015. But now, it seems Peters has moved on with singer Halsey as the two often post together on social media and declare their love for one another while Roberts appears to be dating actor Garret Hedlund. Season 10 of ‘American Horror Story’ is set to premiere some time in 2020.
