Chrissy Teigen Asks Whitney Cummings To Be Her Baby's Godmother During Podcast

Chrissy Teigen surprised her close friend Whitney Cummings when she asked if she would be her baby's godmother. The fact that Cummings was high on magic mushrooms for the first time made this conversation even more magical, and comical, for the two friends. Teigen asked the question during the special live episode of the comedian's podcast "Good For You."

In the video clip of the podcast, Teigen, 36, surprises Cummings as she enters the room. The cookbook author asked Cummings, "Is your heart racing right now?" to which she replies, "I am literally gonna have a heart attack." As Cummings touches Teigen's baby bump, the mom-to-be asks, "Do you want to be the godparent?" Cummings enthusiastically agrees and gives her friend a big hug. Teigen explained that her daughter Luna, 6, "is so obsessed with Whitney." Teigen and husband John Legend are also parents to son Miles, 4.

"I feel like I'm so cut out to be a godmother. And I will be a mother, I will adopt or do something at some point," Cummings said. Teigen agrees, "You are so incredible with kids." Cummings then teased Teigen playfully that she can "take this back" if she changes her mind and Teigen teases back, "this is my plan." The comedian also joked, "When someone makes you a godmother it's their way of saying God doesn't want you to be a mother so you can buy expensive s*** for my child."

Last month, Teigen and Legend announced they were expecting a rainbow baby after suffering a tragic pregnancy loss nearly two years ago. In September 2020, the couple revealed the devastating news that they had lost their third child at 20 weeks of pregnancy, a son they named Jack.

Teigen captioned her Instagram announcement, "the last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way. Every appointment I’ve said to myself, 'ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce' but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still. I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!"

The announcement received more than 3.5 million likes with the comment section flooded with congratulatory messages, support, and pure happiness for the couple.

Teigen previously revealed her fears about not being able to carry another child again and her fertility struggles to PEOPLE in early 2021. "Coming to terms with not being able to carry again is still really difficult for me because I feel so healthy. I'm like, why?" she said. "But then I think about it as my uterus is just not cooperating with me - and it's not a failure." She also said she thinks about how she's already blessed. "I just think of it in terms of how blessed I am already, and also there are so many ways to have a child nowadays...whether it's surrogacy or adoption."
