TV personality Wendy Williams is apparently looking to get her health back on track before she attempts a comeback with her new podcast.
The former host of "The Wendy Williams Show," 58, has reportedly entered a wellness facility to seek help managing her "overall health issues."
Wendy Williams Is Seeking Treatment For 'Health Issues' Before 'Major Comeback'
The former radio shock jockette has entered a wellness facility to seek help for "overall health issues," as reported by PEOPLE.
A press release from her podcast states, "She is taking some time to focus on her health and wellness as she prepares for a major comeback for the next level in her career with The Wendy Experience Podcast."
The message goes on to say, "Ms. Williams is being treated by a team of some of the best doctors in the world. We ask for your prayers and well wishes during this time."
Her health concerns are no strangers to her fans. Her previous health issues have prevented her from returning to "The Wendy Williams Show," which led to a series of guest hosts taking over the show. Wendy did not even return for the final episode, which was instead hosted by Sherri Shepherd.
Sherri became such a fan favorite that it was later announced that the 54-year-old TV personality would be given her own show, "Sherri," to replace "The Wendy Williams Show" after more than a decade on air.
Wendy Williams Has Faced Numerous Health Struggles Over The Years
In February, Wendy Williams tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19 and experienced other complications to her health from Graves' disease.
At the time, her rep, Howard Bragman, released a statement saying that Wendy "understands why this decision was made from a business point of view," adding, "She has been assured by Debmar-Mercury that should her health get to a point where she can host again and should her desire be that she hosts again that she would be back on TV at that time."
The following month, Wendy made an appearance on Good Morning America to assure her concerned fans that she was "absolutely" of "sound mind" after her health scare.
"When people want control of their accounts, they say anything, including something crazy like that about me," she said in March, adding that her "health is very well. And I've actually had a few appointments."
"You know, I'm 57 now and I have the mind and body of a 25-year-old," she added.
Wendy's New Podcast Is Currently 'Loading...'
In an Instagram post shared on her official page, Wendy shared a photo of herself looking fresh-faced and ready to go, sitting in a chair behind a microphone.
She captioned the photo, “LOADING…" to tease her major comeback, which many of her fans felt was imminent.
Her millions of followers were excited to get more news about her return, with one fan writing, "Let's go, Wendy!" Another follower added, "Look great Wendy! Can't wait!" Another fan commented, "Best news all week" while another follower chimed in with "Here for it!!! Can't wait!"
Things Might Be Worse For Wendy Than Fans First Thought...
Although the statement put out by her podcast said that Wendy was seeking treatment for "overall health issues," Page Six reported that Wendy is really seeking help for substance abuse issues. One source dished that her addiction has "gotten worse," adding, "She went from wine to straight-up vodka."
At this time, it is unknown where Wendy is getting treatment, although she has previously sought help from wellness facilities in Long Island City and Florida.
The source claimed that her health and addiction have only gotten worse since her production company allegedly "refused" to get her help, with the insider alleging that "they turned their backs on her."
The source also claimed that "They had too much control over someone so vulnerable."
Earlier this summer, Wendy's ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, previously claimed that Debmar-Mercury "would not support Wendy's recovery efforts with the family. They would not sign off on anything that would’ve helped her recovery efforts.”
“They sat in a meeting with her whole family, including her now-deceased mom, and would not sign off on the recovery efforts that would’ve helped Wendy also get well and live and be sober,” he claimed.
