Paulina Porizkova Admits She Cut Down On Pilates Due To Her 'Wonky' Hips

In a recent Instagram post, the popular author posted a 29-second clip set to Sia’s hit song “Unstoppable” that shows her doing shoulder presses with a dumbbell and working on her arms on a machine with the assistance of a trainer.

“Staying in shape after menopause takes a lot of frickin’ work. Especially when you have wonky hips,” she confessed in her lengthy caption.

“I’ve had to cut down on my Pilates since I came back for the jungle shooting #beyondtheedge because my hips won’t cooperate,” she admitted. “What I’m doing instead, for now, is some serious PT. I found an amazing personal trainer at my local Crunch, Shelly, who alternates hip PT with strength training. But because I’ve been doing so much traveling, my results are inconsistent.”

“So, yes, there are drawbacks to aging,” she wrote. “One has to work a lot harder on things that were taken for granted. On the outside. On the inside, however, all the hard work already done is finally paying off.”

“I may not be as strong or as supple or as smooth as in my youth, but I am comfortable with my vulnerabilities, conscious of my weaknesses, proud of my strengths - and best of all, have the wisdom to put it all together and delight in the results,” she concluded.

At the end of her post, she added the hashtags #betweenjloandbettywhite, #workingout, #unstoppable, #strength, and @agingaintforsissies before she joked, “Yes, my gym looks a little like a bad disco.?.”

Fitness coach Jaqueline Hooton commented, “It’s frustrating when we have to work around injuries or issues in midlife . But it’s wonderful to see how you’re supporting your bone health, functional ability, preserving muscle mass, and active ageing. Fabulous to see you promoting the importance of this for women in menopause and beyond ??❤️.” Paulina replied, “ditto!”

Another fan confessed, “I work out HARD. And I am very, very strong. I also have a ‘stealth’ layer of fluff over my muscles so other people dont feel threatened by my obvious buffness. ? I love your thought about how we have already done the work on the inside. Because d--- if that ain’t true. The outside is a little frustrating now, I will admit. But I’m freaking strong as h--- both inside and out and wouldn’t change that for anything.” Paulina replied, “?.”

One Pilates teacher and personal trainer commented on her post, writing, “I have to agree and respectfully disagree. A classically trained Pilates teacher can help enormously with your hips and enhance the work you do at PT and with your trainer. It’s all part of a whole plan - especially post menopause.” Paulina wrote, “oh, I’ll be back at my Pilates soon!?.”

Other fans were also inspired by her approach to fitness, with one fan writing, “I've definitely changed my workout routine as my body aged. The key is to keep doing something!!! You're so right to listen to your body. Looking fabulous Paulina!! ? ??.”
