It can happen at any time and it doesn’t matter who you are. Being drugged, kidnapped and raped is much more than a traumatic physical event. It affects a person mentally, sometimes even more so than the physical event. “Mercy” singer Duffy came out recently to discuss what happened to her and how she survived her horrific ordeal. She hasn’t really posted anything online since 2017, and her many fans were worried about why they hadn’t heard from her in so long. Now she’s ready to talk.
For those not in the know, Duffy is an award-winning singer and actress. She was born in the United Kingdom in 1984. Her main singing genre would be described as mainly blue-eyed soul and pop. In 2009, her album titled Rockferry was voted as Album of the year at the 51st Grammy Awards. Millions of copies of the album flew off the shelves, cementing the Welsh singer’s fame and popularity around the world. It was an excellent year for the star.
In 2011, more music and the beginning of an acting career kept Duffy in the spotlight. She debuted as an actress in the film Patagonia.Another film followed in 2015 called Legend, where Duffy both acted in the film and contributed music to the film’s soundtrack. Most of her time was spent bouncing between engagements, shows, and interviews up until around 2017 when the singer seemed to have vanished from social media. No one has really heard from Duffy until late December 2019.

Around 2017 we never heard much of anything from Duffy. Her fans grew concerned for the talented star, but none of their messages or tweets were returned. As time went on, all of Duffy’s social media accounts went dead, seemingly never to return to life. Even online stories and news articles could find nothing about the star. Just when most thought we’d never hear from her again, in late December 2019, Duffy sent out a very encouraging post on social media with an updated pic.
#duffy, we’re sending you all the love and support more than ever. Thank you for sharing your story with us, you’re so strong and we know it cannot have been easy. We will be with you every step of the way during this period. Love, your friends 💙 pic.twitter.com/hDQUWZCRPe

With a tweet of #2020, Duffy is rising like a phoenix from the flame. In interviews published at several sites, Duffy partially explains why she’s been away for so long. The “Mercy” singer says she was drugged, raped and kidnapped for some time. She doesn’t really go into specifics but it seems that more info will be coming when she is ready to give it. Duffy has been receiving a massive amount of support online, with many just happy to have the singer back, and so are we.
