The kick-off of Season 18 of The Voice landed last night, and fans of the show are starting to see what kind of dynamics to expect between the coaches, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend, and the new replacement for Gwen Stefani, Nick Jonas.

Smack dab in the first episode of the new season, Clarkson makes a comment in response to Jonas talking about his wife. The comment stems from the age difference in the couple, a whole decade between Jonas and his wife, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra.

She tells Vogue, “I call him Old Man Jonas.”, he wears house slippers and has a serious life demeanor, his maturity matching hers.

In another conversation with InStyle, Chopra talked about how much attention the age gap has drawn. She said, “People gave us a lot of sh*t about that and still do,”

Todd Tilghman was the first contestant to appear on the first episode. He turned all four of the coaches chairs, then confessed he's never performed outside of a church before then. Jonas replies with,

“I’m a PK so I’m actually a pastor’s kid. My most fond memories were with my dad at the piano singing praise and worship songs.” Followed by the question, “Do you know Phillips, Craig, and Dean?” Tilghman said yeah, and Jonas started to sing to the contestant, Clarkson cheering him on.

After figuring out if there is a decade difference between the two, Clarkson and Jonas, Jonas comments, “My wife is 37. It’s cool.”

In the end, Tilghman chose to be teamed up with the coach, Blake Shelton. No harm done, a good television moment passed.
