Pete Davidson Reveals Reason Behind Split With Kaia Gerber: Find Out What He Said

While Pete Davidson has certainly been involved in a number of high-profile flings and relationships over the past few years, he has remained pretty quiet about all of them. However, that recently changed when Pete sat down with Charlamagne tha God on his podcast, Live Your Truth. Pete opened up about the real reason his last relationship, which was with Kaia Gerber, didn't work out. He also got candid about his most high-profile relationship to date with pop superstar Ariana Grande!

According to Pete, the reason for his and Kaia's breakup was pretty simple. "We were dating for a few months and she’s very young," he explained on the podcast, via HollywoodLife. Pete's not the only one who took notice to his and Kaia's age difference -- many fans expressed concerns when the 26-year-old comedian began dating Kaia, who had only just turned 18. Over the course of their few months together, however, Pete was going through many personal struggles, and apparently that took its toll as well.

Pete admitted to Charlamagne that he's "f---ing going through a lot," and that he didn't want that to affect Kaia's life. Pete described how he entered rehab after things between him and Kaia ended, and that he didn't want his issues to impact the young model's life. Pete explained that Kaia "should be having fun and sh-t, she shouldn’t have to worry about some dude that has issues and sh-t. She should be enjoying her work and that other sh-t."

Though their romantic relationship didn't work out, Pete has no negative feelings towards Kaia or her famous family. "Her parents were really helpful and stuff…they’re all cool," Pete said of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. As for Kaia, Pete said that she's "beautiful" and smarter than him: "If anyone was worried that I was too smart or advanced for her, they do not have to worry at all. She was way, way smarter than I was.” As for Kaia, she hasn't commented on her relationship or breakup, but it seems that the two have nothing but positive feelings and are simply ready to move on.

Of course, Pete's relationship with Kaia wasn't the only one he got candid about. Pete had a whirlwind romance with Ariana Grande back in 2018, that ended with a broken engagement just months after they first got together. Pete recalls when he knew their relationship was over -- when Ariana's ex, Mac Miller unexpectedly passed away. "I pretty much knew it was over around after that.
