HBO’s “Euphoria” was a hit for younger audiences, picking up 5.5 million viewers for its pilot episode’s release last summer. Now with its cliff hanger ending in season one, people are dying to know what’s gonna happen in the next.
Because it’s so early, the plot has not been revealed yet nor the airing date, but the cast has released some details that could help piece together “Euphoria”‘s secrets. Here is what’s known so far about the series’s upcoming production.
Storm Reid plays Gia, the younger sister to Zendaya’s Rue, the protagonist of the series. Reid has recently admitted that Gia will play a larger role in the second season.
In the first season, Gia’s role was the shocked little sister that watches Rue struggle with sobriety. There was a hint of a storyline when Gia started experimenting with weed, having her own high school experiences after the focus was on Rue and their dying father. We’re excited to see how Gia grows next season.
Barbie Ferreira’s character Kat has been hinted to have an exciting storyline next season. Ferreira revealed that there will be another LGBTQ+ focused arc, welcome in a show full of queer representation and stories.
Because the actress also came out identifying as a queer woman, fans are speculating that her character will also be LGBTQ+. Kat has already had a strong storyline involving herself as a dominatrix cam girl that learns to love herself and become sexually and personally confident.
The season finale was a wild musical number with Zendaya singing and dancing with a choir, an ambiguous ending suggesting that she relapsed or even died. Although it’s doubtful she died considering Zendaya is set to star again next season.
The cast is keeping their mouth shut about it, saying that the first episodes of the next season will explain everything. However, the fallout from the event will challenge Rue’s little sister Gia and her ex-girlfriend Jules, played by Hunter Schaefer.
There was a recent casting call for four new characters in the second season, two identifying men and two identifying women. The two young male castings are for an outsider type that could be an addict and for a wholesome, conventionally attractive guy.
The two female castings were looking for a stripper addict type with a bad temper and an older caucasian woman who once partied hard and must now struggle with several jobs to survive. These characters are sure to excite.
